General Motors pullouts and outsourcing in Flint.

Ever since GM closed down their automobile manufacturing plants in Flint, Flint has gotten worse year by year. The city of Flint is going through a really rough time since GM pulled out a lot of manufacturing facilities and left a handful of only a few. The city of Flint is going through a really rough time with all the violent crime, drugs, and political corruption.

To start off with… Flint, Michigan was known as "Vehicle City" at one time because GM had car factories in Flint. (There were other factories as well!) Business was booming in 1950s and 1960s. Everything was going great back then. Flint was known then and now for basketball.

During the 1970s things really started to change. For some reason in 1970 or so, GM (General Motors) decided to cut down a lot of car factories out of the US for various reasons and moved elsewhere. GM basically outsourced their jobs to other countries. During the 1970s is when politicians began taking advantage of its citizens and stopped caring about Flint all together.  Politicians started getting lazy, greedy, and corrupt like they are today. People started moving out to other parts of the US. Stuff like that!

But for some reason in 1987 or so, GM (General Motors) decided to pullout of Michigan for various reasons. GM basically outsourced their jobs to other countries. Which had devastated Flint since then.
The 1990s was the decade that proved to be the worst for Flint, Michigan. Money Magazine rated Flint as the worst place to live in the United States in 1994.

Even in 2015, things were the same then as they are now.
However, Downtown Flint is getting revitalized and revived with new construction projects. So progress is being made. But not enough change is being done by activists and politicians.
