Mixerr Album Reviews #281

This is Michael Mixerr. Tonight I will review Freek Show by Twiztid.

To me, the Freek Show album cover has that 2010s Strange Music look similar to a Brotha Lynch Hung album with that horrorcore ripgut cannibal sound distorting your speakers. The Freek Show album cover is something you expect to see in the 2010s era.Twiztid sounds very similar to ICP , which is ironic because Twiztid is signed to Psychopathic Records. People Are Strange  is a cover of the 1967 single by The Doors.

So I rate this album, Freek Show, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #280

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will re-review the Fruited EP by Malik-Bo from Southeast San Diego again! I made some errors.  So I need to fix them. This EP was released on cassette in 1994 on Choke 1 Records. For those who don't know, this EP was Malik-Bo's very first debut solo.  Props to browniemack_sd and Junebug Spada (Junebug Spade) for helping me out with the info on this cassette! Think Jazz Rap.

Plenty of Love is how Malik-Bo shows love to all the hoes and all the homies from SESD, however this track is marketed more towards the hoes. It a perfect track to play in those crowded clubs with mixed crowds.

619 is a dedication track to the whole city of San Diego. It's almost the same as Plenty of Love. (Well at least to me.) SE Ballin could have been on this cassette since it was made in 1994. Crack a Smile is a 2 or 3 minute long song. Fresh off a Grind reminds me of the track called A Pound of Game with JB Spade.

On SE Ballin', Malik-Bo proves to us why Southeast Gs be blowing up the map trying to put San Diego on the map in regards for the music scene. Plenty of outsiders want to blend in San Diego scene but you don't want none of these Southeast OGs. In other words everyone wants to be from San Diego. His homies are creating turmoil with bullets. Shooting off all weak ass MCs execution style.

Malik-Bo takes us back to 1988 where an attempted gang rape happened at a house party where it got frisky when fools stepped in. 10 milli's should be kept while being crept in the city of San Diego. Other people do get in your business. Fools be ballin' and set trippin' while nark bitches and Feds be their downfall. It's about being put on the game in San Diego. Fools don't loiter in spot like back in 1988 because in 1994 that would lead up to a parole bust. Now Malik-Bo takes us back to 1994 when this song was written.

Malik-Bo is not an ex-con, but police are still racist which often leads Malik-Bo on hot cases. In other words, the police (SDPD) hate Malik-Bo. The police hold Malik-Bo up for the evening even though he has plans. Police search his car looking for narcotics (the product) for disturbing the peace because Malik-Bo has black skin and is a African-American male. The courts want to give Malik-Bo ten years upstate because he has melanin in his skin.

I hate how Malik-Bo dissed Orko on the trolley part of the song. Malik-Bo even had the audacity to call Orko a bitch. I don't know what the beef was between Orko and Malik-Bo, Orko Eloheim is still triv (cool) in my book. Malik-Bo cherishes his friends and family.
Even with all the ho's, killer fiends, deadbeat dads, and car jackings Malik-Bo still loves his place.

SE Ballin' is about everyday life in San Diego along with the dangers and perils that loom on a daily basis. It's about being put on the game in San Diego. The latest news, so peep game! Prophet Sativa is the female that sings.

The only thing I hate about this song is how Malik-Bo dissed Orko on the trolley part of the song. Malik-Bo even had the audacity to call Orko a bitch. I don't know what the beef was between Orko and Malik-Bo, Orko Eloheim is still triv (cool) in my book.

SE Ballin' is a prime example of Jazz Rap with the saxophone, Jazz bass guitar, and the drum set. It's filled with G-Funk too! Think early Onyx, Raekwon, Main Source, Dream Warriors, Native Nuttz, Killarmy, U-God, and Shyeim. Those are also prime examples of Jazz Rap.

The graphics and album artwork for this album is very basic black & white in 16 bit. There's nothing wrong with that for any artists who are just starting out on the music scene with limited funding. Of course this was the 90s so the standards were different then they are in the 2010s era.

I rate this EP, Fruited, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #279

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Homiside - Off The Streets Of Saginaw. This cassette was only available in Saginaw, Michigan. This was in 1992. This EP is filled super heavy pounding bass lines & notes. Homiside was Dat Nigga Bone aka Bone Skanless of the Skanbino Mob. Bone Skanless recorded the two tracks

Here comes the brotha from the gutta outta Saginaw! on the track Off The Streets Of Saginaw. Off The Streets Of Saginaw super heavy pounding bass lines & notes over gangsta rap lyrics mixed in with distorted lo-fi production. Homiside tells us why the city of Saginaw is a living hell. It's still true but even worse these days. Hank raps "Here comes the brotha from the gutta outta Saginaw!"

Livin' Haunted reminds me very much of Mack Tha Jack'a - Cross Thoughts. Livin' Haunted reminds me of early ICP juggalo raps and the early House Of Krazees horrorcore acid rap sound. Very garage sounding and lo-fi. It too is very distorted but I don't care what other people have to say!

Homiside was overlooked and underrated back in the 1990s. I will always miss him and his music. Bone Skanless, Mack Tha Jacka, and Dirty Jerk should have blown up on a national scale. They just didn't have the money to push it right. If they had, that would have been a different story.

I rate this EP, Off The Streets Of Saginaw, 5/5*****!!

Family Law Judge William Watkins exposed!!

Judge William Watkins is a judge in Family Law for US Court in Putnam County, West Virginia, United States. He has been on the bench for more than 20 years and practices in family law. In the most recent years Judge William Watkins has had shouting matches with defendants and clients. He has been known for his abuse of judicial powers along with his personal issues with his clients.

The most recent example was with the divorce case of Lillian Hage during 2013 in United States Federal Court in Putnam County, West Virginia. Judge William Watkins even had the audacity to call Lillian Hague a stupid woman. He even told her to show up at one point. However he did not yell at her lawyer which is odd. He was more professional with the lawyer later. Judge William Watkins yelled at Arthur Hage for showing pictures of his house for Putnam County newspaper.

Mixerr Album Reviews #278

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Tunnel of Love by Insane Clown Posse. This EP was released in 1994/2013 on Psychopathic Records. The rerelease was in 2013. Think thrash metal and horrorcore.

To me, ICP signing to Jive Records & Hollywood Records was a bad move because Jive Records was a family friendly record label in the 90s. Jive was known to be a censorship bully as well. They censored the shit out of UGK and Too Short's music. The same goes for Hollywood Records! No surprise there with that said. Going back to Psychopathic for ICP was a good move before signing with Hollywood Records.

Tunnel of Love was done right after their contract with Jive expired. ICP had just 2 days of being independent again before officially being signed to Hollywood Records, so their decided to record and release an EP independently on Psychopathic Records.
Tunnel of Love was released with an alternate version with a pornographic album cover and a bonus track called Mental Warp. Shaggy 2 Dope had replaced the actors face with his on the albums front cover. An actor with an erect penis is standing next to two women.

Record stores refused to sell the Tunnel of Love album, so this album was sold at concerts by ICP at the time of 1994. The pornographic addition became sought after by many ICP fans and collectors. This edition is very rare and hard to find.

Not everybody can handle the dopeness of Shaggy 2 Dope! (Or wickedness of Shaggy 2 Dope for that matter.) So the 2013 rerelease is censored for the lighthearted fans. Which sucks! The album didn't make as much money as ICP planned for. I was saddened to hear that.

The promotional tactics used for Tunnel of Love were incomprehensible to many ICP fans and Juggaloes. A pink Tunnel of Love van with flowers on it was used as a promotional tactic in order to promote the Tunnel of Love EP at one point. The public debt not understand why Psychopathic Records what using on usual type of tactic in their promotions.

I love the visual concept of this EP so far. So it seems that this EP's visual concept is filled with love Amore with the Horrorcore juggalo sound. ICP's shows off their more darker side for the Dark Carnival saga. ICP is more sexually explicit on this EP then all their other album/EPs.

I rate this album/EP, Tunnel of Love, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #277

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Eye of the Storm by ICP on Psychopathic Records. Only a handful of copies of this overlooked ICP classic were ever pressed. Few physical copies were ever released in music stores. Physical copies can be obtained only on, the official Psychopathic Records online webstore which is called Hatchetgear.

Only hardcore ICP fans  and juggaloes will get the hidden subliminal messages and secrets. There are about to 8 to 10 tracks. Some are 10 tacks I believe. I you loved the 00s flavor of Bang, Pow, Boom, then you'll enjoy Eye of the Storm! Scatterbrain is crazy wicked!

I felt this album by ICP was very overshadowed and overlooked by Juggaloes. ICP should have promoted this album as Psychopathic Records did with all the other brehsive ICP albums.
I rate this album, Eye of the Storm, 5/5****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #276

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Lil Runt - Da Chosen One. I'll keep this one short.

This album is has deep southern rap sound with the sounds of Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas in the mix. Although the production sounds a bit dated for 1998. The volume is set a bit too low for my tastes. 16 tracks of hard hitting heavy bass and gangsta rap are worth listening to. Black Cat Productions out of Houston did a superior job on the graphics rather than what Street Level graphics would done and handled it.

I rate this album, Da Chosen One, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #275

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will an album by KGP called Bootlegz. KGP is from Saginaw. Michigan. Think thrash metal rock and Horrorcore acid rap.

This amazing album had marked the Return of KGP into the world of the wicked! A lot of hatred, anguish, and anger is aimed towards the mic in the audience. KGP is horrorcore. The album grabs the listener into a world of fear, bringing them through hellish actions and soundscapes. Of course the album is heavily inspired by anger, death, occult, sexuality, drugs, and paraphernalia.

Songs such as Acidikrevelationz and Bloodklotz are thrashing rock classics!! KGP album Bootlegz is a landmark in the evolution of Mentality Records.
I rate this album, Bootlegz, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #274

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Alize – Walkin In The Rain. This album came out in 2007 on Black Sunshine Ent. From Flint, Michigan.

If you’re looking for some of that Hood R&B/Soul type of music, then this is the right album for you! It’s very underground. Alize shines while she showcases her true lyrical skills on thin album.

Giving Him Up is about unfaithful men who cheat on their girlfriends with other women. Alize agrees that those men need to go. If she had magic, she could make them disappear. She makes it crystal clear that there is no fooling around. Go On is in a similar mood to Ta Da by Lil Mo. That’s what I like about this song.

Look no further! When you’re in the zone with Alize, it’s a party! Think YG and G-Mo.
Beauty & Beast is an R&B love song. So is Could It Be. Sun Don’t Shine is where Alize showcases her lyrical skills. Go On and Hello are about unfaithful men who cheat on their girlfriends with other women.

I rate this album, Walkin In The Rain, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #273

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will re-review the self-titled Freaky Live album from 1995 on Deep Thought Productions and DOA Productions from Flint, Michigan. I made some errors. So I need to do corrections.

Deep Thought Productions was the label of DOA and Freaky Live in the 1990s. (DTP produced mostly rap and rock.) This self titled album came out on cassette only with seven songs. The trio consisted of a DJ, Dukeman, and Troubleman. The front cover letters resemble an Esham, Natas, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Flag, and ICP letter type font from the early 90’s and 00s.

What Hood U From? is a dedication track and a shout out to all the neighborhoods in Flint such as Sarvis Park, Bedrock, Northside, Southside, Eastside, Westside, Downtown Flint, Fleming, Terrance, King Hood, Dewey Hood, Mott, Dayton, Rigsby, Merril Hood, Sonny, Proctor, Pasadena, Selby Hood, Pierson Hood, Rankin, Mason, Odette, Beecher, Flint Park, Mt. Morris, Grand Blanc, Terrece, and Civic Hood. On a side note, Flint Town was going down at the time of this song. (You can catch my drift.)

Dickwhipped is a song about having sex. The term “dickwhipped” is similar to the term “pussywhipped”. Dickwhipped means your partners sexual prowess is so addictive that you are a slave to it. Of course it’s explicit lyrics are not to be mentioned to our kids. Not for kids ears of course.

The Intro was dope. The Outro not so much. I was expecting 16 tracks instead of just 7 tracks. The rest of the album not that good unfortunately.

I rate this self-titled album, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #272

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Fuck Off! by Shaggy 2 Dope. This album review will be a lot better than my Freaky Live album review! Let me say that right now. This EP was released on Psychopathic Records in 1993.

I love the psychedelic graphics of the front cover artwork! It's freaky and it's live! Just like Freaky Live! Shaggy 2 Dope reminds me of Kid Rock also. I can agree that Psychopathic Records should do their graphics more in this style of the Fuck Off! album cover. Grippy album covers make every different and great because each time a different cover could be a surprise.

On with the EP!… Clown Luv is dedicated to all the clowns, juggaloes, and juggalettes out there. This song was a historical beginning for the underground counterculture of Juggalos. Juggalo that is! Not to mention Faygolovers and Faygo.

I rate this EP, Fuck Off!, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #271

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review No Money No Honey by Po Broke & Lonely. No Money No Honey was released on Ruthless Records and Epic. This album came out in 1993 during the end of the New Jack Swing era. So you'll hear that New Jack Swing sound. Po Broke & Lonely came out with the hardest erotic stuff that would wet even the hardest woman to please.

The title track No Money No Honey has that New Jack Swing sound. The description of Po Broke & Lonely is a West Coast group with an East Coast groove. Funky Vibe is funky and raw all at the same time. Alone is a slow jam. It's pretty much early 90s sound with light bass tunes.

It's really a shame that Po Broke & Lonely only came out with two albums. Po Broke & Lonely is great for any special occasion. It's raw and funky. It's great music for the homies to relax and put up their jimmies to bone to.
I rate this album, No Money No Honey, 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #270

This is Michael Mixer. I will review Don't Take The Girl by Tim McGraw. This was from 1994.

If you are looking for some old fashioned outlaw country similar to Clint Black, then Don't Take The Girl by Tim McGraw is the right decision for you! You won't regret it if you're a fan of country music. It's 4 minutes long of a sad depressing love song. Usual for most Country music songs back then and now too I might add. With that said, the sound is very outlaw country.

Welcome to The Club is a losers song for those who lost their wives. I rate this single, Don't Take The Girl, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #269

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Eric Hisaw's self-titled EP on cassette.

While this cassette looks like a full album that have 14 to 16 tracks, it has the standard 3 tracks similar to an EP. That's why this album review will be short.
This cassette has that Austin rockabilly sound that Greazy Wheels did along with the country-folk genre that dominates Austin. It was recorded live in 1995 at one of his concerts in a bar or something. So it has that Austin live sound. Which is a bonus for collectors out there. This cassette could be very are so don't pass up any opportunities to own this cassette.

I rate this self-titled EP, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #268

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Vertigo by Canadian musician Jesse Cook. Think jazz with world fusion with the calming style of music.

Looking for something similar to Brian Eno, U2, or Cher? Well this album may just be right for those of you who like the calming style of music.
Well he does hit the Cajun notes on his guitar at certain times. Jesse Cook does kick up some harmony. While this album isn't a must have, there are fairly good decent songs on this album. I've heard he just keeps getting better with each new release so far. I rate this album, Vertigo, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #267

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Based On A True Story by Lil Mo. This album was released on Elektra Records in 2001. I will talk about what songs should and should not have been on Based On A True Story. That's how my album review of Based On A True Story by Lil Mo will be different. So just listen to me.

5 Minutes and If You Wanna Dance should have been kept on the album as originally planned from 1998. Think of Me with Lady Luck because it is very street and gangsta. Club 2G, Starstruck, Why, More Than You Know, What About The Children, Right or Wrong, Finally Ova You, Hello It's Me, and Nothing But Good Times.Nobody Somebody was a sad song. I did not like it. It sounded like a DJ Screw song. Who You Foolin' with Mocha was that good either.

I remember buying Based On A True Story in 2001 when it first came out on CD and cassette. (As well as vinyl too!) Yes I was very ecstatic! However most Lil Mo fans were upset when Starstruck and a handful of other songs did not make it onto Based On A True Story.

I rate this album, Based On A True Story, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #266

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the single Ta Da by Lil Mo. This was released on Elektra Records in 2000 in order to promote and popularize her debut album Based On A True Story. This single is also an album sampler as well that came with minute long to minute in-a-half long snippets of songs that are going to be/were going to be on Lil Mo's debut album Based On A True Story. (Some songs did not make the final cut of Based On A True Story.)
Think R&B/Soul ballads meet hardcore street raps on hip-hop beats. A lot of songs that are/were supposed to be on Based On A True Story were real life events that were based on Lil Mo's life. That goes for the songs on this single.

Ta Da was chosen by Elektra Records due to the lack of success from Lil Mo's previous singles 5 Minutes and If You Wanna Dance because those songs when they were released as singles did not chart. I remember there was a time that 5 Minutes and If You Wanna Dance were to be the leading singles for the Based on a True Story album. I agree with Elektra's decision that Ta Da was a good choice for the lead single of the debut Based On A True Story album. I was in favor of that particular decision back then in 2000 as well!

Ta Da is a lovely magical song dedicated and aimed to all the ladies out there men that are unfaithful and are cheating on other women. There is a point in females lives where they want to claim their independence. However the music video wasn't promoted as well as it should have been. Critics did think of the song Ta Da as male–bashing content. Ta Da was a good lead single that had a lot of potential for some radioplay. On a plus note, Pam Olivia of Vybe, D'Andrea Foster, and Shae Jones contributed in the role of background vocals.

My Story is the title track of this single and the Based On A True Story album. It is a positive and uplifting song about what she goes through because she's just like you. It's all Based On A True Story! She started off on Long Island in New York City. She hopes everybody know about her and knows her. The electronics used are great.

To me and most Lil Mo fans, Starstruck should have been a lead single. Starstruck had a lot of potential for some radioplay but Elektra disagreed with that option. Starstruck should've had a music video done. This song was based on a true story. Probably dedicated to former boyfriend or maybe it was a boy in Lil Mo's class when she was in high school. Missy Elliott does a superb herb job of doing her rap ad-libs as she always does!

The song Starstruck goes went to that boy who used to laugh at Lil Mo! He pulled her hair and snapped on her gear. Lil Mo knows she shouldn't have wrote this song but doesn't regret a thing about writing the song Starstruck. Now Lil Mo gave this boy something to laugh about now! This boy used to treat her badly. He didn't care what she had to say. This boy used to laugh at Lil Mo's petite shape (body figure). Now he say Lil Mo off the chain and that she blows him away!

Look how the tables turned. Now he's got so much to say about Lil Mo's fame and stardom. Could it be the money, videos, and fly cars? The boy wants Lil Mo because he's starstruck! Now he's trying to get backstage during Lil Mo's concerts and tours.Look at how things have changed. Lil Mo is now grown up and filled out in every place. He's all up in her face because he sees that Lil Mo is getting paid as a musician artist. But too bad! He can't be down with Lil Mo. If that boy had been much more good to Lil Mo then things would be different.

Enter stage Missy Elliott. She is the bitch like she told him. Why is that boy all up in Missy's grill like he knows her? She had all these clothing styles and personalities WAY before this boy did. That boy needs to stop talking all that junk and slow down. Missy Elliott used to be a nobody until 1996 when she blew up big on Gina Thompson's song The Things You Do. Every show Missy Elliott performs at, she earns $1 million for every appearance at every show in other words. Missy Elliott did make it hot like Nicole Wray did in 1998! She knows how to break it down to the floor.

To me and most Lil Mo fans, Saturday should have been a lead single also. Saturday had a lot of potential for some radioplay and a music video. It was a bright and upbeat fast paced song. Saturday is about how Lil Mo wants to meet up with someone each Saturday, but can't due to their busy schedules in life. Lil Mo makes it very clear that on Saturday that person is going to be with her.

I remember buying Ta Da in 2000 when it first came out on CD and cassette. (As well as vinyl too!) However most Lil Mo fans were upset when Starstruck and a handful of other songs did not make it onto Based On A True Story. I was pissed too. Ooh!
I rate this single, Ta Da, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #265

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Iron Maiden - Live After Death.

Live After Death is a live album of Iron Maiden's live performance during July 1985 at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California, United States. The cassette is nearly 2 hours long. Probably more than 2 hours. (Some editions of Live After Death are longer than 2 hours.) It's a 2 record set all into 1 album! There are liner notes inside the album regarding the credits. The schedule for the daily crew was very busy and hectic. A lot of stage props were used during this time of concert.

The cover art was illustrated by Derek Riggs. Eddie The Head is rising from his tombstone as usual. Even the from cover is quite skeletal as usual. (As most Iron Maid album covers are.) Iron Maiden should have performed more songs live from the Powerslave album to contribute and put onto this live album. This album possibly the greatest live album by Iron Maiden of all time so far!

If you are a hardcore Iron Maiden fan or a collector of cassettes, then this album is for you!! Every Iron Maiden fan should have this album. I rate this album, Live After Death, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #264

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Smell My Finger album by George Clinton. This album was released on Paisley Park by Prince in 1993. This album was not well received by hardcore George Clinton fans despite it being the most out of print George Clinton album.

Paint The White House Black is a platform for various appearances/cameos by modern day rappers such as Ice Cube, Yo-Yo, and Dr. Dre. This song is where Ice Cube popularized the bop gun, which he would later feature George Clinton on the song called Bop Gun. Paint The White House Black is about the ideology on how white the White House really is.

The album is ripe with samples that George Clinton wanted to cash in on. The 70s sounds mixes in very well with the stellar 90s production sound. Solid bass is played out. Some tracks are better than others. MC Breed and Kam both make an appearance on this album.

I was 15 when I first discovered this George Clinton cassette in 2008. I found this cassette at Half Price Books on South Lamar in Austin, Texas. Part of me regrets spending the $1.28 on the Smell My Finger cassette and part of me doesn't. Which is weird because I was 15 when discovered George Clinton. So that sums up my person experience with this album.

Some tracks are better than others. The only good songs by most hardcore George Clinton fans standards were Martial Law, Smell My Finger, Paint The White House Black, Way Up, Hollywood, and Get Satisfied. The Big Pump song didn't do him any justice. That's why the album was not that good and very overlooked despite George Clinton being at his artistic peak in funk. There are not that many P-Funk classics on here as there should have been. If you want a better funkier album than this, check out Dope Dogs instead. Buy this album if you are one of those George Clinton completists.
I rate this album, Smell My Finger, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #263

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will re-review Tweet's single called Love Again. This single came out on MC Lyte's Du Bose Music Group and Umbrella Recordings in 2010. Only a limited amount of promo CD singles were ever pressed only later to be put for online distribution. This is a single.

On Love Again, Tweet expresses that she is scared of loving someone. She's so confused. Does she love again? Even though Tweet's supposed to let go. She needs to get it together. Tweet doesn't want to live without that special person.

Love Again has that winter theme on a cold ice winter holiday. Just imagine ice skating on a pond during the holidays. Love Again is 3 minutes and 40 seconds long which is about as long as a typical average Tweet song. It's slow pace at first, but gets upbeat fast. I did not like the song Love Again. It sounded very suicidal.

Remedy was a better upbeat song. It reminded me of It's You. It's perfect for a snowy day at the mall. Anyway… Tweet is so gorgeous and underrated! A lot of neo-soul is underrated. Which is what this single is. I rate this single, Love Again, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #262

This is Michael Mixerr. I will re-review Tweet's Southern Hummingbird album.

Her first album, Southern Hummingbird went 2x platinum and silver in 2002 with dope beats and production by the well known producer Goldmind Inc.Timbaland and Souldiggaz. This album had hits like Oops (Oh My), Boogie2nite, Call Me, and Smoking Cigarettes! It's all based on the trials and tribulations of Tweet in what she had been through in life.

Tweet talks about if she had her boyfriend back she wouldn't complain at all on Complain. Susan Weems and Tweet both play the guitar. They both showcase their guitar playing skills on this long song. Let me say this! They ARE GOOD at it!! Complain is a great guitar ballad. It has a very country bluegrass feel to it which stands out from all the other songs on Southern Hummingbird. It's a 5 minute long song. You'll enjoy it!!

Make Ur Move is another song that should have been a single. It has a lot of potential for single material.
Now with that said, Get Away (Move On) and Big Spenda should've been added on the retail versions instead of the initial pressings only. But I see why Elektra did this for monetary gain on the Japanese imports.
I rate this album, Southern Hummingbird, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #261

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Tweet Advance Music Sampler from 2008 on DuBose Music Group. That's right! This album sampler had probably less than 500 physical pressings done before it all went to the digital download. This was the sampler for the Love, Tweet album that got shelved due lack of interests from distributors, mainly internet leaks (which killed this albums chance of ever seeing the light of day), and label mergers from bad corporate moves from the powers that be.

Up first is the upbeat 2000s neo-soul song Anymore, which is also the outro as well for some reason but it's instrumental. Killer FX scratches.
It's been a while since Tweet and her boyfriend dated so they want get reacquainted. Tweet never anticipated that this would happen or occur if her boyfriend treated so nice. It's like she doesn't know him anymore. Her boyfriend left her hanging previously. Would he decide to change? Tweet will have to think about her decision.

Them There Eyes is an upbeat swing jazz. Tweet fell in love with them there eyes. It's about flirting and being in love. The trumpets and saxophones did a superb job at the very end of Them There Eyes.
Remedy was a better upbeat song. It reminded me of Nicole Wray's Destination from 2004. It's perfect for a snowy day at the mall or outside.
Cruisin' is a road travel song. A travelling song to put it basically. Think about doing 80 down the highway on the countryside. It's another song that is choice material for a single! Cruisin' is definitely single material appropriate for this album. So was Real Lady, Everything, and I Just Wanna.

My Dear has that Atlanta sound. It also reminds me of Lil Sin's Who Got Yo Back track from 1998. My Dear is a virtuoso upbeat song similar to a modern love ballad. T.I. did a good job rapping on this song. Marz had produced this. My Dear is definitely single material appropriate for this album. Let me say that right now. It's really weird too.

On Love Again, Tweet expresses that she is scared of loving someone. She's so confused. Does she love again? Even though Tweet's supposed to let go she needs to get it together.
It sounded very suicidal to me to be honest. Love Again does have that 2010s slow jam sound. I didn't really like it.

Here is how the singles for this album should have been done. It should have been done int this order.:

My Dear
Cruisin'
Real Lady
I Just Wanna
Them There Eyes
Anymore

The production is sultry smooth in vocals. The production style reminds of the Southern Hummingbird day of 2002. Tweet needs to get back to that Southern Hummingbird sound with Timbaland producing the beats. Yes, the absence of Timbaland shows on this album. The only contributions missing from this album are the presence of Missy Elliott and Timbaland.
I rate this album, Tweet Advance Music Sampler, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #260

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review The Cinderella Theory by George Clinton.
This album was released in 1995 on Paisley Park by Prince. Airbound is a happy memorable song.

To most George Clinton fans, The Cinderella Theory  is one of the weakest albums in all of the George Clinton discography. Buy this album if you are one of those George Clinton completists.
Sadly this album is not that conceptual of a masterpiece. The title "The Cinderella Theory" is too well played out unfortunately. Prince didn't do him much justice either. So I have to rate this album, The Cinderella Theory, 2/5**.

Mixerr Album Reviews #259

Mixerr Album Reviews #258

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review One Million Strong by The Next Level. This was released on cassette in 1995 on AMPA Records out of Flint. It was released as a cassette maxi single only.

One Million Strong was influenced by the famous 1 million man march on Washington DC when Martin Luther King made that speech in 1968. Think CORE in the Civil Rights movement. That's what this song was influenced by. The reprise is a breath taking masterpiece done very well. It's a bit longer but it's well worth it. It's another FOI style track.

The Wake Up mix of Brotha Brotha is about brothers killing each other over colors and mainly over nothing. It's a negative meets positive track even though it retains that dark brooding feeling. "Wake Up Brotha Man!" is a well memorable quote by The Next Level. Don't give into the plan of the Ku Klux Klan. Brotha Brotha reminds me of the Self Destruction single by the Stop The Violence Movement. The messages in both songs are very similar.

I was going to rate this single 4/5**** stars, but that would've been a dumb move.
I rate this single, One Million Strong, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #257

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Ruff-N-Rugged - Swing Sump'n Ruff. This album was put out on cassette, vinyl, and CD in 1994. It was on Boomin' Records Inc. which is DJ Clays label studio. On the front cover are vinyls of Run-DMC - King of Rock and EPMD. I can't tell if the others are due to the angles so bear with me here please.

DFC was the most funkiest rap group, while The Dayton Family was the most hardest rap group, DOA was the most deadliest rap group, Top Authority was the most authoritative, while Took-N-Bone were the dopest, Guttt Control was the most gutsiest, while FOD was the rawest, NFTP was the most scandalas rap group, and Artfull Dodgers was the most artsiest, you had Ruff-N-Rugged which was the most rugged rap group.

Ruff-N-Rugged was the most overlooked Flint hip-hop group ever despite being the fourth rap group out of Flint to get national mention on TV channels such as MTV, Fox, ETV, and The BOX. Let me introduce another group from Flint that goes by the name of Ruff-N-Rugged, who are C-Lo and DJ Clay.

This album is an overlook classic in Flint hip-hop! This album is so dope! It's a must-have if you are a hardcore hip-hop head! The beats are great! I rate this album, Swing Sump'n Ruff, 5/5*****!!

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review One Million Strong by The Next Level. This was released on cassette in 1995 on AMPA Records out of Flint.

Mixerr Album Reviews #255

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review The Next Level - Da Real. The Next Level was the Flint version of Public Enemy similar to how Kaos & Mystro were the Detroit version of Boogie Down Productions. The Next Level was mid 90s rap duo from Flint, Michigan from 1993 to 1996. Mad Maggie Mag was their executive producer. This album was released in 1994 on cassette on AMPA Records outta Flint. The Next Level is strong in following the Faith of Islam.

The sound is similar to that Bangtown sound that was popular in Flint at that time. Deep heavy bass with garage drum beats on a Roland SPC from the basement similar to acid rap. Think Esham and Natas for example! Not sure if Bangtown produced this or not. Either way this tape is very positive and inspirational.

Da Real is Descriptive Accurate Recordings Evolving Attitudes Language is  about how The Next Level is trying to change the attitudes of people and their languages to overcome their problems that they are facing. The Next Level decided that the people wanted actual news rather than the crap media being displayed on Fox News or whatever news channel outlets out there display/shoot out propaganda. They're trying to change the youth attitudes on their  warped outlooks of life. They want the youth to be political activists and be a community volunteer. That's what I think so far.

*(Descriptive Accurate Recordings Evolving Attitudes & Language if you want to get technical with me.)

The Headknocka sounds in the form a freestyle track. It basically is a freestyle track. From the looks of the title of the track that is. The beats are so dope. Dope lyrics with dark brooding voices. Rest in Peace is a dedication to the deceased loved ones out there in the world. To all deceased mothers, fathers, siblings, children, grandparents, and mutual friends. Just anyone.

Men of Respect is about how and why The Next Level is well respected by intellectuals. The Next Level is strong in following the Faith of Islam. It's all in the family. They think of Islam as a clan family. "Much respect to our people who submitted our bosses. We overcame all of our losses." is a well memorable inspirational moving quote by The Next Level. The bass is super heavy as it is on Da Real and the beats sound very garage made. Which is very formidable to my tastes.

Smacking 'Em Back a diss track with a freestyle flow aimed at all enemies and haters out there. Reminds me of Mack Attack and Craig Mack. There Are No Children Here reminds me of MC Overlord's Where are the Children? song. It's about children being kidnapped and not knowing how to handle all that stress. It's mostly about child endangerment. Mo Money seems to be a track about greed. The A cappella outro is very good.

This album was a more different from the average EPs/albums that most Flint rap groups were putting out on cassettes at that time in the mid 1990s. This album has positive uplifting messages rather than the negative downbeat raps filled with negativity from gangsta rap that don't add any solutions to the problems people were facing. I just wish Brotha Brotha and One Million Strong were on this album. With that said…
I rate this album, Da Real, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #254

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Infinite Mass - Ride EP. This was released on CD in 1995. Infinite Mass is a rock group with funk sounds and mid 90s grunge. They seem to have them on very well-known underground cult following for some odd reason which I don't know why. I could pander around this question and wonder why all day. I will keep this review short due to time constraints with other album reviews and my budget.

The album cover reminds me of classic rock album by The Cars called Greatest Hits album  with that downbeat grimy hard rock look of the Slippery When Wet album by Bon Jovi. The car on front cover gives away that hard rock look and reminds me of Van Halen's Balance album cover from 1995. The sound is so profound.

Unfortunately the album is very short and only contains five songs. So I have to give this album 4/5****. I had expected 18 songs at the most for this album. That's why.
I rate this album/EP, Ride, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #253

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will re-review the self-titled album by the Lady due to some grammatical errors I forgot to change. The album was released on Truth & Soul Records in 2013. Think R&B, Pop, Rock, Soul, Jazz, and Blues. This one is about the self-titled of Lady the band. This is their first album!

Mix the 60's sound of Motown, Stax, and Atlantic Records with R&B/Soul, Blues, and Jazz, you have the result of the band Lady. Which is made up of Nicole Wray and Terri Walker. Think Soul and Jazz. Which is similar to Stax.

Money was the first single off the 11 track album. Money was the most promoted on the whole album since it was the first single. Get Ready is a soulful bouncy tune. Get Ready was the second single off the album. Sweet Lady is a dedication song to their mothers. Hold On is about moving too fast. This album is filled with pop flair of the 60's.

This album is the album of 2013!! (So far.) I rate this self-titled album, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #252

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Sweet Lady by Lady. For those who didn't know, Lady is Nicole Wray and Terri Walker. This single was released as a vinyl in 2013 on Truth & Soul Records. There are only two songs.

Sweet Lady is a dedication song to their mothers. Sweet Lady is similar to an upbeat positive 60s Motown song. There is a lot of positivity in this song. Their mothers are really there for them in the end when no one has their back. To me and most Lady fans, Sweet Lady was an inspirational uplifting dedication towards their mothers type of song.
Get Ready is a soulful bouncy tune. Get Ready was the second single off the album. This song has a very 60s sound.

I rate this single, Sweet Lady, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #251

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Hank - Life of a Criminal. For those who don't know, Hank is André Weems from Saginaw, Michigan. Hank grew up in Saginaw and Bloomfield Road is his stomping grounds. This debut album was released on cassette only in 1993 on Laraza. Hank sounds very similar to Big Wy of Young Soldierz.
This album has that Saginaw blues and Saginaw rap sound.  You would've thought an album like this ghetto and raw would have been produced at U Be U Studios with that Sagnasty rap sound sound.

Life of a Criminal is about why Hank is a criminal and how he chose to live the life of a criminal. It shouldn't be happening that's what's happening on this song. Hank makes a desperate plea for changes to happen at the very beginning of the song. You see Hank grew up on ghetto blues, bad news, and wearing sporting beater bast tennis shoes. Beat up too.

Hank ran around wild as a child. Hank started acting buck wild at age 14 due to the lack of guidance in the right direction. They got to the point where Hank wanted to commit suicide. So so he started riding rooms in his bedroom while listening to dark Scarface tunes.

Life of a Criminal is very overlooked. The sample used is Average White Band - Love of Your Own. I love the garage beat boxing drum sample used in the background of the song. I think of this particular song has a ghetto rap song. It came out at right time. Right during the rise of gangster rap.

Bloomfield Blues has that Saginaw Blues sound to it and rap too. Hank grew up in Saginaw and Bloomfield Road is his stomping grounds. This song is mostly about bad news. The piano has that Leroy Dukes production sound to it similar to Dangerous Records. Dreamin' is a very heartfelt song dedicated toward his pops. It's all based on lessons in life. Live and learn.

Stick Up Kid is about stick up robberies. Planting jack moves in the ghetto. Stick Up Kid has early 90s R&B sound to it along with that fast paced police chase music to after the drama that Hank has caused. Hank ain't 2Pac but he still got juice while giving niggaz two to the head and shooting them up point-blank range. This is basically a violent gangster rap track but offers no solutions to the problem.

Life of a Criminal along with the radio and instrumental all should've been grouped together on side one of the cassette. That's what I think. All the other songs on side two.
I rate this album, Life of a Criminal, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #250

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Reveille Park by SPM. This album was released on Dope House Records and distributed by WEA Latina Music in 2002. Smooth down south rhymes over Spanish raps.

Juan Gotti's girlfriend (chick) make an appearance on the intro. The Beach House is that down south playalistic pimp type of rap. Red Beams and Rice is a rags to riches story tale. In other words, SPM went from Red Beans and Rice to Red Beams and Rice. He tells about his childhood dealing drugs and doing all sorts of crazy ass shit. He talks about his upcoming as a drug dealer. It ain't nothing but a come up!

However there were a few songs that sucked on this album. Hotel Lady is a skippable skit. So is Suckaz and Hataz. I didn't really like. Suckaz and Hataz. Most of the songs are freestyles. It ain't nothing but a come up! Despite the album being well-produced and well-designed, this album was given a 3/5*** star rating with most critics. It was mainly a 3 star effort. I was going to be a dick and give it 3 stars, but fuck it! 4 stars is more reasonable.
Even though SPM is a piece of shit child molester, his music still lives on. It's too bad he's fucked up. SPM was a great Mexican rap artist.

I rate this album, Reveille Park, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #249

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Alice in Chains - Dirt. This one will be shorter because of focus on other interests.

The Dirt album is just as good as the Jar of Flies album as I had recently reviewed not too long ago. Dirt has the same live performance sound also! As well as their famous usage of auto wah. The album cover reminds me of Vallejo's Thicker Than Water. To me the album cover reminds me of Vallejo, R.E.M, Led Zeppelin, and 311. Even though the Dirt album was not a huge success, you will still like this album. Dirt is a collectors item album to some Alice in Chains fans.

This album can be hard to find at times. Why? I don't know. I rate this album, Dirt, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #248

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the well-known underrated classic single Clear by Cybotron! This is electro techno. Not hip-hop as some uneducated fans refer it to as such. This record was released as a vinyl single on Fantasy Records from Berkeley, California in 1983. Cybotron was a techno group from Detroit, Michigan. Juan Atkins was one of the members of the duo.

This record, Clear, was very underrated in the mainstream pop market despite having bee favored by many of the techno underground music scene. Clear did very well in the Detroit techno scene. But to me, the single was overlooked by mainstream fans and did not make an impact classic as Rappers Delight by The Sugarhill Gang did. Which it should have and it did in a very major but sort of small way!
Clear had the phat electro sound which was simply brilliant! Industrial Lies was the electro industrial track on the B side. Clear should have charted onto the Top Billboard Charts at #85. #85 on the Top #100 Billboard Charts that is. And it should been added to a soundtrack for a major movie film or an underground indie film.

In the early 80s, Cybotron masteredplaned the blueprints for Detroit techno. Some undereducated fans do refer to Clear - Cybotron as the earliest release in Detroit hip hop and rap. The members of Cybotron themselves even said "This is electro! Not hip-hop!". Cybotron was obviously not rap either. Some even refer to Cybotron as a one hit wonder. Clear was a one hit wonder to be exact. Which Clear evidently was.

I rate this single, Clear, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #247

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review the Driftin single by Phyzix. Phyzix is an artist from Malawi. This single was released in 1996 on vinyl. Driftin is a 4 minute song filled with drums and bass with electronic sound. On top of that jungle sound too. I love drums and bass. It's nearly my favorite next to Rock music and country music. Phyzix is a cool artist name. Phyzix is not that well known in Malawi to put it bluntly. Because well I don't know.

I rate this single, Drifitn, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #246

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Murder City Mob - The Criminal Type. This album was released on Darkside Records, the same label Dead On Arrival was on I believe. MCM is from Flint, Michigan.

MCM comes ruff and rugged on Loud And Foul which is more of a freestyle track. Criminal Type is gangsta rap meets early hip-hop type of track. Gangsta Jackin' reminds me of Ice Cube - Jackin' 4 Beats. Gangsta Jackin' was strictly for the streets only. It's too hard for radioplay. The first side of the cassette should have been the Explicit side and the second side should have been the Clean side. MCM did release a self-titled EP after that they vanished as all the other Flint rap groups back then did. Other than that this cassette is very short as typical Flint cassette tapes were in those days.

I rate this album, The Criminal Type, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #245

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Worldwide album by Southside Syndicate. This album was released on ATR Records in 2003.  For those who didn't know who Southside Syndicate is, Southside Syndicate is Lil Sin, Big Chucc, and Moni (Michael "Moni" Parker). Worldwide music with Hip Hop flava and down south bangin' beats is what this album is filled. The beats and production is fairly decent. The graphics not so much.

The Intro tells us that Lil Sin and Southside Syndicate had just been recently released from Huntsville State Penitentiary in 2003. For those who didn't know who Southside Syndicate is, Southside Syndicate is Lil Sin, Big Chucc, and Moni (Michael "Moni" Parker). Southside Syndicate make their debut track. A good sweet intro. (Nashville State Penitentiary or Ashville State Penitentiary was my original guess.)
The song Worldwide is telling us about how Southside Syndicate is selling units and distribution of their debut album worldwide. In other words, Southside Syndicate is taking it to the top like Will Smith! Eating sushi and drinking Caviar. Lil Sin goes straight raw on this track.

Catfishin' is Lil Sin showing young niggas how the game works. It's about old school niggas teaching young niggas how to catch a fish. Don't hesitate to hook the bate on the hook rod. Catfishin' is also about finding the right woman out there to date. This sis Lil Sin's solo track. I love damn near every Lil Sin ever done! Lil Sin and Uncle Roger awaken early Sunday morning. Time to grab a 6-pack of brew and an ounce of zig-zag. Uncle Roger don't smoke.

Ride Wit Me and Southside Swangin' are club anthems and club tracks. Something to groove to at a bangin' party! So is Get Krunk which has mad flows! Southside Swangin' and Get Krunk are down south rap tracks. If The World Was Mine and Struggln touch and relate to real world issues such as haters, drugs, gang violence, political corruption, income equality, overcoming the perils of poverty, and other topic as well. Dippin' is a southern track with heavy bass and doodooism.

Truth Lies In The Pen is about how Lil Sin was writing life stories hoping people would listen. This was in 1995 after Lil Sin got his start in his rap career. Born in sin. He started off on Final Cry off of C-Ordell's Under Investigation album. This song was also off the 4eva Young album in 2003 I believe. Truth Lies In The Pen is about Lil Sin's life experiences all together.

Bouncen and Flossin is 2003 remake of the original song with a More Bounce To The Ounce sample by Zapp. So my favorites are Worldwide, Catfishin', Ride Wit Me, and Southside Swangin'. I just wish the group had lasted longer. ATR Records quit the game too early.

I rate this album, Worldwide, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #244

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the album Brand New by pop rap group Salt-N-Pepa. This album was released on Next Plateau Entertainment and Red Ant Records in 1997. Chad Elliott was the main producer for this album.

Red Ant Records was going bankrupt at the time and Salt-N-Pepa could not use a lot of the money and time to put in the effort from the promotions of the Brand New album. Brand New was set to go 2x platinum as the previous blockbuster album Very Necessary did. However, Brand New only sold 800,000 copies thus going gold. Brand New showed that Salt-N-Pepa failed to keep up with the new pop generation that pandered for boy bands. The styles and fashions were changing.

R U Ready? was an updated continuation version of My Mic Sounds Nice. It was a latter continuation to put it bluntly. I love the live acoustic drum beats. They fit in well with the live instrumentation. Salt is head MC of this song. Pepa is in the background I believe. The song is perfect for a 1997 pop single. It is a well memorable song. The music video is directed very nicely. Al West composed R U Ready? for those who didn't know.

Do Me Right and Good Life should have been singles but due to Red Ant Records poor mismanagement that never happened. Friends should have been as single as well. The song Friends was composed by Anthony Criss. To me, Anthony Criss did a great job of composing. Honestly, Al West and Anthony Criss are both underrated composers that needed more exposure.

Imagine was a good choice for a 3rd single. It should have been like this: Imagine b/w Knock Knock. Brand New should have been a single also! On Gitty Up, Spinderella showcases her low alto voice similar to Automatic by The Pointer Sisters. The sample is Give To Me by Rick James. Boy Toy reminds of Let's Talk About Sex, an earlier song by Salt-N-Pepa. Say Ooh is a very romantic hedonistic love song very similar to an 80s slow jam. Hold On and Silly of You were both single material.

I rate this album, Brand New, 5/5*****!! This album was way overlooked! It's too bad the record label had limited funding. Who knew what kind of success this album would have been with the right amount of funding for the promotion of Brand New.
