Mixerr Album Reviews #248

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the well-known underrated classic single Clear by Cybotron! This is electro techno. Not hip-hop as some uneducated fans refer it to as such. This record was released as a vinyl single on Fantasy Records from Berkeley, California in 1983. Cybotron was a techno group from Detroit, Michigan. Juan Atkins was one of the members of the duo.

This record, Clear, was very underrated in the mainstream pop market despite having bee favored by many of the techno underground music scene. Clear did very well in the Detroit techno scene. But to me, the single was overlooked by mainstream fans and did not make an impact classic as Rappers Delight by The Sugarhill Gang did. Which it should have and it did in a very major but sort of small way!
Clear had the phat electro sound which was simply brilliant! Industrial Lies was the electro industrial track on the B side. Clear should have charted onto the Top Billboard Charts at #85. #85 on the Top #100 Billboard Charts that is. And it should been added to a soundtrack for a major movie film or an underground indie film.

In the early 80s, Cybotron masteredplaned the blueprints for Detroit techno. Some undereducated fans do refer to Clear - Cybotron as the earliest release in Detroit hip hop and rap. The members of Cybotron themselves even said "This is electro! Not hip-hop!". Cybotron was obviously not rap either. Some even refer to Cybotron as a one hit wonder. Clear was a one hit wonder to be exact. Which Clear evidently was.

I rate this single, Clear, 5/5*****!!
