This is Michael Mixerr. Tonight I am going to review Soliloquist's Dilemma by The Blind Continuum from 2015.
When you listen to this short official EP by The Blind Continuum, you automatically think of alternative hip hop meets the experimental genre which is similar to electronic music. Soulful electronic music meets hip hop on this album right here. The mood is set to calm.
The beginning of Heart Not Sol begins and starts off with a calm mellow 4 note guitar instrumental. (Think guitar solo instrumental.) That covers the first 22 seconds of the beginning track on this EP. Guitar solo succeeds into an 8 note guitar instrumental from a 4 note guitar instrumental. After that, spoken word poetry is turned into rap. Spoken words are spoken in the form of rapping. The captain always goes down with the ship. We are detrimental to ourselves as human beings but are too lazy and ignorant to just know it.
Flotsam is a rap spoken word track. Think freestyle rap and rap music in general. Flotsam reminds us of all the new school rap that is currently being put out today. It's ok for some rap to be soft. Right?
Splint is the last track on the Soliloquist's Dilemma EP. Splint is very similar to how Eminem, Twista, Big Sean, or Tech N9ne rap. The track Splint is intertwined with such deep thought.
While the album was too short for a subtle listening experience as Vallejo, Quills, or Permanent Ability. I have to say this EP was worth the listen. Many of the compositional songs on this very EP were very short. Soliloquist's Dilemma EP paves way as a demo for The Blind Continuum band for much deserved success.
