Short history of the Carolinas in the United States.

The rich mountainy acres of land called Carolina which are composed of modern day US States North Carolina and South Carolina are located south of Virginia State. King Charles II of England granted the land of Carolina to 8 noblemen in 1663 at that time period of British colonization. People and settlers of many religions and faiths came to settle in the land of Carolina. Pioneer history reports that many settlers from Europe settled into the Carolinas territory.

English philosopher John Locke had wrote the constitution for the Carolinas colony in the year of 1665. John Locke made religious freedom law of the land. "No person whatsoever shall disturb, molest, or persecute another for his speculative opinions in religion or his way of warship." John Locke gave both political freedom and religious freedom to Jewish people as New York, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania did in their state constitutions.

What John Locke did was very important in terms of religious freedom, human rights, and civil rights. When English philosopher John Locke wrote the constitution for the Carolinas colonies, he defined the demands of basic human rights.

In 1719, the Carolinas colony was officially made a crown colony. In the 1750s South Carolina was one of the richest colonies of the Thirteen Colonies. North Carolina was one of the the richest colonies of the Thirteen Colonies as well.

In time of British colonization, the territory of Carolina was divided into North Carolina and South Carolina. Later on in the 18th century, the Carolinas colony was divided into 2 states which were named North Carolina and South Carolina. In South Carolina and North Carolina, there was slavery. South Carolina was admitted to the union in May 23, 1788. North Carolina was admitted to the union in November 21, 1789.
