Former Riedel Environmental Services Superfund Site still heavily contaminated with PCBs.

Riedel Environmental Services Superfund Site was established in 1900. Over 50 industrial operations have occurred on the property since the 20th century. It was used by Riedel Environmental Services for hazardous waste spill clean up operations. The Superfund Site was condemned in 1986 during the 1985-1986 fiscal year after testing for contaminants turned up positive for heavy metals, asbestos, and other toxic chemicals were found on this site. It remains heavily contaminated with PCBs.

The University of Oregon - Portland bought the property from a after a $4.8 million deal to buy 35 acres of land adjacent to the Portland campus from Zidell's Triangle Park LLC in July 2005. The University of Oregon - Portland announced plans to buy the site so it could expand recreational and green space facilities for students and the surrounding neighborhood.

As of May 2018, the former Environmental Services Superfund Site is still heavily contaminated with PCBs among heavy metals. Heavy metals have caused soil erosion and pollution to the dirt. Today University of Oregon - Portland owns the site.

Riedel Environmental Services was located at 5300 North Bluff Street, Portland, Oregon, US 97203.
