Hebron Baptist Church has renovated and refurbished the old Midway School on East Lupon Road into an annex for their church. The church was finally to renovate the old rectangular building into a functioning church annex and dining hall in 2016. More renovation was done in 2019 when this building was repainted a bright color of white all around.
However renovation did happen overnight. Seeking funds for renovation came from donations, rummage sales, and drives. Most of the renovation money was earned independently without any government funding.
Richard D. Sullivan, Sr. was the trustee who purchased the building in 1996. The date of the payoff for final sale was in 1998. Since then, the church has been through several trustees while Richard D. Sullivan, Sr. has remained the sole owner. Richard D. Sullivan, Sr. was responsible for purchasing the school property. For those who don’t remember or did not know, Midway School was operated by St. Hedwig Common School District and East Central Rural High School District No. 20 (now East Central ISD) before shutting down in 1965. Arthur J Schaefer was a trustee for this school. As a church, Hebron Baptist Church has been in operation for more than 110 years.
