Mixerr Album Reviews #2,541

Sound Mechanix ‎– Outer Thoughts EP is one of the most abstract and ambient masterpieces of house music out there. The EP is truly breathtaking, rhythmic, and angelic. You Got, Melting Pot, along with Adam Said, are the highlights fo this EP.

You Got relies heavily on 909 beats and muffled cymbals over a dance floor styled synths. The kick drum and bass are what give this Sound Mechanix song a ‘kick’. You Got samples Teddy Pendergrass - You Got What I Need. You can hear deep house vibes on the song I'm For Real with the repeating vocal sample, loud thunderous kicks, and diluted bass.

Adam Said is such a brilliant track. Any house heads out there will love this track. Upright bass notes play over an electronic soundscape. The upright bass notes what give this electronic track a jazzy edge and feeling. Seriously deep house vibes can be heard on the song Adam Said. The emotions felt and heard on this track are indescribable.

Melting Pot is a smokey rhythmic house track backed by a pair of congas and several layers worth of instrumentation. A set of congas and bongos can be heard playing throughout the song. The hodgepodge of instrumentation is what makes the song great and definitely worth listening to. Melting Pot is a highlight off the EP.

Melting Pot took its name from Booker T. & The M.G.'s ‎– Melting Pot. Sound Mechanix were inspired by the sounds and production style from Booker T. & The M.G.'s when the song Melting Pot was composed. The song title says it all.

I rate this EP 5/5*****!!
