This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Mellow Mood Phil - s/t. This album was released on Discreet Records and Midwest Records from Dallas in 1995. Mellow Mood Phil is from NYC. Larry Cooper is the executive producer.
This album has that New Jack Swing and Quiet Storm sound despite New Jack Swing being outdated by 1993. Very R&B/Soul very much! Mellow Mood Phil will remind you of Bobby Brown, Jodeci, Marques Callaway, and Horace Brown! Think about Slow Jams. (This is not Jazz.)
My Crib is a slow jam song about Phil's house. Drippin' With Sweat is a slow jam/love song. So is don't hold back, a passionate song about kissing. Mellow Mood is very slow jam Quiet Storm type of song. TYA is dedicated towards the youth of the United States. Why U Cry is a sad song. Taste Your Body is a sex song.
I feel this album is outdated by 1990s standards and if the album had 1 extra song. I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4 stars.
I rate this self-titled album, 4/5****.
