Arizona Tanning Co. Building history finally revealed.

For many years, people wanted to known the history behind Arizona Tanning Co. Well now people will! This news article provides a brief summary behind the history of Arizona Tanning Co.

In 1972, Arizona Tanning Co was built at a construction cost of $500,000 on the Gila River Indian Tribe grounds. 15 to 20 male employees were recruited from the Gila River Indian Reservation. Sessions were $50 a month. Marianne Tabaca was the owner along with the Gila River Indian Reservation & Gila River Indian Tribe. Arizona Tanning Co. transformed cow hides into leather.

Arizona Tanning Co. closed down in 1991 after property was deemed an environmental hazard and a Superfund site due to the wealth of harsh and toxic substances (including hexavalent chromium) present in the soil surrounding the property.

Arizona Tanning Co was demolished in June 2014. No remnants can be found.
