The Sutro Baths were built in 1896. Sutro Baths was built at a time when public bathing places were the fashion. Customers often stated they could feel a cool slow gentle breeze of wind from the seaside. The cool water proved perfect for its customers to bathe in. Gentle wind breeze came in through a slow breeze. Sutro Baths was once known as the world’s largest indoor swimming pool.
The structure of Sutro Baths burned in 1966. Sutro Baths closed shortly thereafter. Today the US National Park Service owns Sutro Baths. The Sutro Baths structure is now open to all.
