Some history of the Rollar’s Ice Factory in Waco, Texas explored.

This news article will explore and expose one of Waco’s forgotten ice factories called Rollar’s Ice Factory. Some of the history will be explained. This ice factory dates back to the 19th century.

Rollar’s Ice Factory was constructed and established at the corner of South 6th Street Avenue in Waco, Texas in during the mid-1860s J. C. Rollar. He owned this ice factory in Waco. The business started operations during the late 1860s. Things ran and operated smoothly throughout the 1870s for the business.




Rollar’s Ice Factory produced 24,000 pounds of ice a day which was distributed all over the city of Waco. The quality of Rollar’s ice was unsurpassed. Artificial ice was made from distilled water that was congealed. Distilled water was congealed in this ice factory. New additions were being installed to Rollar’s Ice Factory in 1893 as reported by Waco Morning News. The additions being added to the ice factory are now almost complete.
