Mixerr Album Reviews #137

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Fear, Emptiness, Despair by Napalm Death. This was released in 1994 on Earache Records from the UK. This album is more mid paced yet it didn't do as well as the previous album, Utopia Banished, did. There are a lot of 3 minute songs on this album. (Some versions of this album have 11 songs.)

Twist the Knife is one of those killing songs. One of those songs that makes you want to kill someone. One of those songs to kill somebody to. Think about the film scores and songs used in movies of the psycho thriller genre. Those horror movies and films. Hung is the best song!
Plague Rages has that 80s grindcore band sound to it. It reminded me of when Napalm Death first started with their early demos. Think about the Scum album. Or Hatred Surge. Because there is more that meets the eye when it comes to Napalm Death. They are a grindcore band. Let me put it that way.

Primed Time and State of Mind are more intellectual tracks that are different from the rest of this album. At least to me. Armageddon is a hardcore song! It fits very well with this album. Especially the title of the song. The Deception song is an OK song.

Even with all the newspaper press this album got, it still didn't chart as well as Utopia Banished did. It was well favored by newspaper critics and music critics around the world. A lot of critics gave this album 5 stars. It was too bad that this album did not do as well as the last album had done. So buy it if you have already not done so!

I rate this album, Fear, Emptiness, Despair, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #136

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Poets & Gangstas - Various Artists.
Poets & Gangstas was a compilation album of artists from San Antonio, Dallas, and Fort Worth released on Youngsta Records in 1995. Youngsta Records was in San Antonio, Texas. This compilation album is filled with gangsta rap themes.

The first song is the title track with Nino, Kottonmouth, and Pops. This song has that San Antonio Doo-Dooism sound with heavy bass and heavy guitars. That's what San Antonio rap and hip-hop sounded like in the mid 90s. Pops is Como, TX. Kottonmouth is Dallas. Great song!! Think Creepin' On Ah Come Up.

The second song is Murda Afta Murda. This song is not the remix that is on Kottonmouth's 1995 debut album on Youngsta Records. This is the original version. It is one heavy ass G-Funk bass track! The next song is Ill Regala by the rap group Ill Regala. Ill Regala was a rap group from the Westside of San Antonio, Texas in the mid 90s. I wish they would have signed to Youngsta. It would have been dope! Nino tells how he talk the talk and walk the walk on Walk On Walk.

Million Me's is song by Mad Wisdom with a Kenyatta Banks sample. I love the drums and bass used on this track used on this track Mad Wisdom is from Fort Wort, Texas. Mad Wisdom was on Youngsta Records and Midwest Records from 1995 to 1998. Just a dope ass freestyle song.
All In is a smooth fast song by Pinhead aka C-Lo. Pinhead is from Fort Worth. He was in P.K.O. in the 1990s. Gangsta Shit is by Big Gangzta out of Fort Worth. One In Tha Chamba is by Pinhead. It's about being gangsta and guns! Pinhead sounds a lot like Ice Cube.

Utmost Corrupt is by San Antonio rap group BVA. I could see Princess Kaos doing this song because it sounds a lot like her. It might be her in the background or K-Ski. Just sayin'.
What I Luv Most is a song by dat infamous playa K-Sam. This is a different version of the original that appeared on the Infamous Playa EP by K-Sam in 1994. This is one playalistic remix! K-Sam tells us why he loves being a drug deala. He stays strapped at all times. He ain't gettin' caught slippin' by no motherfuckin' BG. K-Sam got that fresh candy on his hoopty.

Gangsta Mental is an instrumental drums and bass track done by the one and only legendary DJ Snake from Dallas. DJ Snake was going back and forth from Dallas to San Antonio at that time in the mid 90s. DJ Snake needs to make a comeback with Ron C again like he did in 2004.
In The Hood is a song by the rap group VSOP from San Antonio.

No Luv is a song by Chilly D. He is an OG from the Westside of San Antonio. He had his own label from 1997 to 2000 called Hunt Dawg Records. No Luv would later appear on his 1997 debut Too Thuggish 4 U. He had a group called SAOGz also! Chilly D should have signed to Youngsta/Big Ballin' or BLVD Records outta SA. Definitely Youngsta!
The final song, Poets & Gangstas (Remix), is a remix of the first song with Ania.

It would have been more dope if C-Stud Vill, Lil Sin, C-Ordell, Sweet-P, Denise James, K-Ski, Staci Russell, Mr. Joshay, Ricé, Finesse 1, Dirty Red, Jr. Boy, and Sharon Lincoln had made features on this dope ass compilation. But for whatever reason they didn't. Which is too bad. I wish Youngsta Records could have stayed open and became Youngsta/Big Ballin'.
If you mix Ruthless, Bad Boy, Rap-A-Lot, Black Market Records, AWOL, Grapetree, Motown, New West, and Luke Records, you'll get Youngsta Records! Think about it that way. Be sure to buy this dope ass compilation if you because it is long out of print!!! You won't regret it!!

I rate this compilation, Poets & Gangstas, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #135

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review T-Lye - I Gotstakickit.  T-Lye is an artist from Sacramento. T-Lye was on Sick Bay Productions in 1994. Which E-Moe, Sicx, and Big Hollis were on as well. They a part of Sick Bay Productions. Sick Bay Productions has artists from the Bay Area and Sacramento. Sick Bay was active from 1994 to 1998. E-Moe and Big Hollis did the productions on I gostakickit. E-Moe did the drum programming on the I Gotstakickit song. I Gotstakickit EP was only released on cassette as a demo in 1994. T-Lye was 16 when she recorded her demo.

I Gotstakickit is about the day in a life of T-Lye. It's about how T-Lye kicks it with the Sick Bay Crew. It is filled with super heavy G-Funk bass along with that Bay Area sound. Think Mobb Music and gangsta rap filled with hip hop beats. Street Wize is about T-Lye's knowledge of the streets. Female vocalist Tasha B. makes an appearance on this song. Then it cuts into a snippet of a shorter version of I Gotstakickit. Street Wize is a 3 1/2 minute song. Any beats done by E-Moe are always on point. Big Hollis has done stellar production too. Tasha B. reminds me of a little of R&B.

I don't know what went down with Sick Bay Productions or why T-Lye did not release a full album. Maybe it was just for fun or maybe the money wasn't right at the time. It's such a such shame that artists like this get overlooked. This EP was too short for me and the fans.

I rate this EP, I Gotstakickit, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #134

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review Jessica Betts - Jessie Pearl. This album was released in 2008 on Missy Elliott's Goldmind Inc.! This album was produced by Missy Elliott and Timbaland. Only very few copies were pressed up in the US. For some promotional reason, the distributor for Goldmind Inc., Atlantic, decided to release Jessie Pearl in Japan instead of the US. Which was to fans was a bad move for Atlantic Records. Missy Elliott should have switched distribution to RED, Clout, eOne, or Sony.

For those who don't know, Jessica Betts was winning contestant on Missy Elliott's Road To Stardom back in 2005. Jessica Betts is from Chicago. Jessica Betts has that Chicago Blues, R&B/Soul, and Pop flare to her music. She has true talent.

Dealeo is a great song! I love the drums and bass on Dealeo! Jump on It reminds me of the Dead or Alive song You Spin Round (Like A Record). This is one of those tracks that makes you want to dance. It's a Dance track. Block has that Blues and Gospel feel to it. Jessica Betts talks abut how she's from the streets and she packs heat. She talks about what she knows about what's going on the block. I love the organ in the background. It really gives into the mood of this song. Crush is about love.

Whisper features Missy Elliott with them southern rap beats with heavy bass. This track is about Jessica having last time sex before she says goodbye to her ex-boyfriend. They both broke up and knew this relationship ain't gonna last. They have sex one last time. Think Freaky Deaky and Sexual Healing.

Superhero is about how a man came into her life to be her boyfriend. What's Your Name is about Jessica getting to know a guy and  be with him. Moon is an upbeat bouncy song that to me matches Chicago Blues. Definitely single material!! Don't Make Me Wait is another love song.
Why Me is definitely single material!! She has style. I love the song I Miss You. It should have been a single. Corrupted and Smooth were ok tracks. Come To Me is a smooth love song. Unique Girl is single material!

Dealeo and Whisper should have both been singles if they were promoted properly. Block and Moon as well! Unique Girl  and Why Me also! If Atlantic wasn't so interest ed in Missy Elliott and Timbaland, things would have been different for Jessica Betts. She should have released 3 albums on Missy's label and Atlantic. Truth and Soul would have been a good label for Jessica Betts because it worked out for Nicole Wray of Lady.

All in all, this album was definitely overlooked by Missy Elliott and Atlantic. The fans deserve better.
I rate this album, Jessie Pearl, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #133

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review The 916 Alliance - Silence The Violence. This record was made in the response to 21 year old Damon Williams was shot dead right outside of a concert in 1991 in Sacramento. (Hence the name.) The Explicit Version of Silence The Violence goes harder while the Clean Version is a bit soft. The instrumental has super heavy bass and more drum beats. The 916 Alliance is a group who brings positivity to youth in Sacramento. The 916 Alliance was/is Homicide, Marvaless, DC Ray, OG Raw Deal, S.A.C, Flexx, Par'lay Ced Sing, LA Chill.

I rate this EP, Silence The Violence, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #132

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review the self-titled D O A album. This is real gangsta rap! Not for all you weak as MC's out there! This album was released in 1994. DOA is 6 Feet (6 Feet Deep) and Da Locsta' (Loc Malone). D O A (Dead On Arrival) was a rap group out of Flint, Michigan in the early 1990's. D O A released 2 EPs on cassettes called Marked For Death and Problem Child. This album, consists of the EPs Marked For Death and Problem, which D O A would go on to release later in 1994 on CD and cassette. D O A even got dissed by The Dayton Family! D O A even dissed The Dayton Family! Production is done by Da Locsta', 6 Feet Deep, and Randy Howard.

This album is SAMPLE CRAZY with Rock samples, Hip Hop/Rap samples, and Jazz samples. Think about artists such as Van Halen, Megadeth, Deep Purple, Bee Gees, Lonnie Smith, Bob James, KRS-One, Kool and The Gang, Eric B. and Rakim, Ice Cube, Ice T, MC Breed, Sly Stone, and Charles Mason. That's where some of the samples came from. Even movie samples are used! Think Roger and Me, Cheech And Chong's Still Smokin', Scarface, and My Cousin Vinny. Documentaries too. All that good shit!
Good luck trying to find this album because all of the D O A stuff goes for over $500!!!! D O A was slept on!

First song up is Running Scared, which has heavy hitting distorted Grand piano notes with super hard bass. Samples are Tom Tom Club - Genius of Love, Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive, Dr. John - Right Place, Kool and The Gang, and KRS-One. It's early in the morning and it's time to sell marijuana. 6 n da mornin' police on the dick. Now it's a dope raid. Time to leave the scene! Duckin' and dodgin' the 5-0. You get the idea. I like the heavy rock sample at the end.

The second song is My City's Going Down (Part 1). Samples from the Michael Moore documentary Roger And Me are used in this song. Flint at that time was gaining notoriety for a major violent crime center. Money Magazine had rated Flint one of the worst places to live in America in 1994. Ever since GM closed down their automobile manufacturing plants in Flint, Flint has gotten worse year by year. If people would have taken more action, things would have been a lot different. Here DOA talks about how rough Flint really is with all the violent crime, drugs, and political corruption. Nothing in Flint is getting better. There's only 4 police officers to cover every 2 blocks.

The next song is Drugs. Here Loc Malone and 6 Feet talk about how they got into doing drugs, drug trade, and the effects of drugs in general. This song samples BDP - Illegal Business, BDP - Love's Gonna Getcha, and Funkadelic. The bass is super sick!! DOA 4 Life!
The next track is Problem Child. Talks about how home is hell. No love. Born in the ghetto and raised in da guttah.  Here 6 Feet talks a bout how the ghetto is a living nightmare. He makes a lot of references to his revolver gun. Loc Malone was just a poor kid who never had much. Running wild through neighborhood and selling drugs. The streets is packed real deep with gats. No fakeness here!

The next song is Poverty. Here D O A talks about the effects of poverty on children in the ghetto and what children will do to keep roofs over their heads. Such as selling dope, gambling, buying uzis, and using food stamps for other things besides food. 6 Feet talks about sniping niggaz at Flint Park in the Dark. Loc Malone is the getaway driver. The sixth track is Cruzn which samples Juicy - Sugar Free, Eazy-E - Boys In The Hoods, Smokey Robinson - Crusin', and Zapp - More Bounce To The Ounce. Cruzn with da homeboys and puffin' dat ganjah. To My Mafakaz is a dedication song which samples Zapp - Freedom and Zapp - Dance Floor.

On If I Wuz A Police, Loc Malone (I'm sorry, Officer Loc) tells use what he would do if he was the police. Such as getting hydraulics for paddy wagon, free all the homies in jail, sell narcotics, ignore crime, arrest the real police, etc. Officer Loc makes a diss to Chief Woodrow Stanley. At the beginning of the song you can hear the opening intro theme for the TV show called COPS, which is called Bad Boys - Inner Circle. A Cheech and Chong movie sample is used also.
Ridin' High samples the song of the name by Faze-O. Love Track samples Zapp - Tut-Tut Jazz. This is a dedication track.

This song up next is My City's Going Down (Part 2). Samples from the Michael Moore documentary Roger And Me are used in this song. Here DOA talks about how rough Flint really is with all the violent crime, drugs, and political corruption. As I said before, Flint at that time was gaining notoriety for a major violent crime center. Ever since GM closed down their automobile manufacturing plants in Flint, the effect on Flint was absolutely devastating!!! Nearly more than half of the city of Flint is on welfare and food stamps. Crime in Flint continues to grow!

In The Jungle is a reggae fusion dancehall track where 6 Feet goes straight up Reggae with a Jamaican Belize flow. He's about how he lost his job, his wife, and his sanity. Here 6 Feet talks about the struggles of hustlin', starvation, and life. Living on the edge. Think early 70s funk and early 70s reggae! It would have been super crazy is Loc Malone had a Jamaican madd ill flow.
Payback is a diss song aimed at The Dayton Family.

I rate this self-titled, album 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #131

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review Outdates - Make Way. Make Way was a demo by the Holyoke, Massachusetts band called Outdates on SchlitZtonezZ and Geffen. Only 10 copies were put out on cassette only in 2010. The album cover is in black and white while the cassette itself is spray-painted. Something about "plugz" is written on the back of the cassette.

Each song is nearly 1:30 long and there are only 6 songs, which makes an EP. The sound quality is low quality because this is a demo tape after all. So don't be too upset. The lyrics blend into each other.

Go Now is about hitting the streets and doing crime. The night's still young and it's not time for bedtime. Taking Sides is about not conforming with society's standards. Trash your standards. After Two is about late night sex. Don't Turn Out is about the lights in the street turning out. Can't Motivate is about lack of motivation. Sick of Talkin' is a lame track.

I rate this EP Make Way, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #130

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Classic 220 by 2nd II None. This album to most of us fans did not receive enough recognition despite the facts that this album did get positive reviews from music critics. 2nd II None was that group who did not put out enough albums for their fans to be satisfied. (Minus Tha Kollective and 2008's Tha Shit of course.) DJ Quik is the main producer with AMG on this album as he was on the last one. He is also the DJ for 2nd II None from time to time. The reason this album was released on Arista Records is because Profile Records closed down in 1997 due to Cory Robbins want to go his own way and form Robbins Entertainment. We just wish it was released on Profile Records in 1999 & 2000. (But that's just me.) Classic 220 has that late 1990s & 2000s West Coast feel (sound), Long Beach Funk, and Compton sound (CPT sound) since it's coming from Los Angeles, mainly Compton.

The first song is Stragglaz. Stragglaz is a song about all different types of hoes. It has that funk, timbal drums, and psychedelic carnival theme (Listen to it and you'll here it in reverse.). I love this song. The drum beats and production are on point! This song should have been a single.
Up 'N  Da Club is a party joint. A song to hear when you walk into the club. I LOVE this song also! Up 'N Da Club features DJ Quik and AMG. It has a Hawaiian beat to it. It's great song to play while in the Bahamas. Don't U Hide It is a defiant song. I like that! Don't you? This song should have been a single too!

Whateva U Want features AMG and James DeBarge. The production is on point. Make 'Em Understand samples Inner City Blues by Marvin Gaye. Make 'Em Understand features the late Mausberg (R.I.P.) with production by DJ Quik. Pawdy should have been a single also! Pawdy features Playa Hamm. DJ Quik should have been on Pawdy. Back Up Off The Wall samples Get Down On It by Kool & the Gang. Back Up Off The Wall features DJ Quik.

For those who don't know, Y? was originally called The Dogg N Me. This song was recorded in 1994 when 2nd II was on Death Row Records with DJ Quik. This song wouldn't be used until 1999/2000 on this album and the 2008 album Tha Shit. Y? samples By Your Side by Con Funk Shun and Atomic Dog by George Clinton.
Gangsta D remember way back when he was young, livin' that crazy life and getting' sprung. Out there getting' busy getting his own. He didn't really care because Mama wasn't home. Hangin' out with the wrong crowd, solving problems by shooting other people and making ends meet by doing robberies. Snatched up one fool and took him out his. The homey survived. Gangsta D didn't really care because he was young. Now he's rollin' with his baby mama. Didn't even know he was in the drama. Suddenly the homey pulls and starts blasting at Gangsta D. A bullet hit Gangsta D's head, so now he's laying down on a stretcher. The family is stressed out because Gangsta D is in a coma. Everybody is praying while Gangsta D is trying to hold on.
When KK was little, he was trying to get himself a down ass reputation while growing up in Compton. It didn't matter if KK got his ass beat or not. Didn't even care at the time. KK wasn't no punk. One day when he rollin' with all his straps, he got caught by the cops and took all the fault. He didn't even snitch. KK eventually find himself a minimum wage job but his pockets were still hurtin'. KK and his relative found a way to come on up. He's pushing a quarter kilos cross country. That's how it is when you coming from the CPT.

If You Ain't Fuckin' is a late night sex jam to when you're stickin' it in your girl or while you're having sex in a convertible. (The type of car can be your choice.) Or after you just came home from the club all drunk and shit. So you're ready to  make love. Stuff like that. You get the idea!

Don't Do Dat should have been a single also! Don't Do Dat has more of a mid 90's feel to it than a 00's feel. (Some of the material was recorded in the mid 90's for those who don't know.) Production is on point. (Which is very good!) DJ Quik and AMG should have produced that thought. The song Princess with James DeBarge was an ok song even if the fans weren't feeling it. Love U should have been the last single for this album. You can hear the 70s guitar in the background. Got A Nu Woman is a great song which features DJ Quik, AMG, Hi-C, and Playa Hamm. The song is almost 9 minutes long. This song is the longest one on this album.

Sadly, none of the songs chartedIf the following songs as singles had charted, here is how the positions would be listed as followed. (Not everyone and every song can be #1.): Stragglaz (BillBoard Top 100: 13 | Hot Rap Singles: 22),  Up in The Club (BillBoard Top 100: 3  | Hot Rap Singles: 2), Don't U Hide It (BillBoard Top 100: 14 | Hot Rap Singles: 2), Make 'Em Understand (BillBoard Top 100: 43| Hot Rap Singles: 48), Back Up Off The Wall (BillBoard Top 100: 48 | Hot Rap Singles: 43), Y? (BillBoard Top 100: 5 | Hot Rap Singles: 5), Don't Do Dat (BillBoard Top 100: 12 | Hot Rap Singles: 8), and Love U (BillBoard Top 100: 12 | Hot Rap Singles: 8).

I rate this album, Classic 220, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #129

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Jhiame's self-titled album. This album has that neo-soul, New Jack Swing with R&B/Soul edge to it. This came out on vinyl in 1992 on Jhiame Productions out of Houston, Texas. It's very similar to the early 90's production style of Teddy Riley, which to me is heavily influenced by Guy.

Do Me and I Kut 4 U sounds like sex songs. Nasty Disposition is another sex song! C'mon Babe is about Jhaime getting a woman to love him. Why U Wanna Change Me Now is about now that they're a couple, the woman wants Jhiame to change his ways. Jhiame ain't up on it. Rhythm of Luv is a smooth R&B song. Doesn't This Luv (Feel Good 2 U) is yet another sex song. Inner City Blues is cover version of the same track by Marvin Gaye.
The album is too short. It only has 8 songs, which is not enough for me.

I rate this self-titled album, 4/5****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #128

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Sha'Key - Adidi Skizm. This album was released on Imago Records in 1994. This album was criminally slept on. It was so good! Especially the song Soulsville! This is one of those albums you have to have on vinyl. If this album was on Pay Day Records and London Records, the album would have gotten more recognition and sold more units. 13 tracks of soulful music, G-Funk, and G music best describes this album!

I rate this album, Adidi Skizm, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #127

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Malik-Bo - Brootikus. This album was released on cassette in 1997. Malik-Bo has to be one of the most slept on artists from San Diego next to The Green Eyes, Big June, Ms. Sancha, Ms. Kitty, and Black Mikey. Malik-Bo sounds like a darker version of Brotha Lynch Hung. This is album more of Jazz Rap than Hip Hop to me.

SE Ballin' is a prime example of Jazz Rap with the saxophone, Jazz bass guitar, and the drum set. It's filled with G-Funk too! Think early Onyx, Raekwon, Main Source, Dream Warriors, Native Nuttz, Killarmy, U-God, and Shyeim. Those are also prime examples of Jazz Rap. I love the Jazz horn synths and snare drums on How U Goin' Out?.
The album features artists such as Junebug Spade, Chalon, Lil Naje, Brooke Style, Silhouette, and Prophet Sativa.

I rate this album, Brootikus, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #126

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Mirage album by Fleetwood Mac. This album was released on Warner Brothers in 1983. Although to me Mirage should have been released in 1978. This is their thirteenth album. All that touring in the US during 1981 made this album sell better. This album contrasted the previous album. This an ok but good album.

I rate this album, Mirage, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #125

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Suthern Merchandise - Suthern Stress.  Suthern Merchandise was a rap group and a record label in 1997 that came from San Antonio, Texas. This album is one of the most rarest Texas rap albums out there along with Lil Sin's FBD, P.K.O.'s Armed and Dangerous, and Jhiame's Screamin' Dat Pimpin'! This album has super heavy bass, doo-dooism, gangsta rap, Rock, sex, and heavy guitars. For some reason, San Antonio rap gets overlooked.

Blasted is about how Suthern Merchandise blasts on these fools in these SA Town streets and Texas streets. Blastin' on dem fools! It's easy to be a soldier when there's no war on Live and Die Like a Soldier. Real talk. Real shit! N 2 Deep is about being deep in the game. Life.

Gangstas In A Playin Mood is one of my favorite tracks along with Money Talks, and One In The Trunk. Gangstas In A Playin Mood is a sex song. It has those heavy guitars and heavy bass. The title speaks for itself on Money Talks. It has a super heavy bass line with that G-Funk. A Brand New Game talks about how new the game was in 1997. Suthern Merchandise was an ok track. I just wist it were longer. One In The Trunk is about killing people. Another track with a super heavy bass line and that G-Funk. Don't Bite The Hand is a good track. The next track is a remix of Money Talks. Thee last track Suthern Stress is 7 minutes long.

I rate this album, Suthern Stress, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #124

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review dope - (s/t) 3 ep. This EP was released in 2000 as a promotional cassette, dope is a metal band.

The first song is called Sick which reminds me of 16Volt - Too Late and Alice In Chains - Dirt.
The lead singers and the lead guitarists were killing it! Great guitar riffs! The crowd was going wild. The Sick music video was a live video. Plus the blue and red lasers in the music video for Sick made it even more wicked than it already is!

The second song is called Fuck Tha Police. Fuck Tha Police is a rap metal cover of the N.W.A song of the same name. I like that! The third and last track is Spine For You, which is for the felons and revolutionaries. If Epic had promoted this more who knows where they could have been.

I rate this self -titled album, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #123

This is Michael Mixerr. I am going to review Greenstreet - SWSX '96. This albums is very much Jazz Rock. This album is more of an EP than an album because it only has four songs.
The first track is Back East. It starts of with a bit hard rock, then hard rock with a jazz saxophone. The drums are on point. Great guitar noodling at the end! The second track is Face To Face. This song is more Jazz Rock. The third track Lost Pearl is a little more Jazz than Rock. The fourth track, which is the last track, is Moonpole.

I rate this EP, SWSX '96, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #122

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Screamn Dat Pimpin' album by OG Jhiame Dog who is the legendary Screwed Up Click producer known as Jhiame. Screamn' Dat Pimpin' was released in 1995 on Jhiame Productions based out of Houston, Texas and B 4 Reel Records which is based out of Houston, Texas. This album is filled with Hip Hop/Rap, Funk, Blues, and R&B/Soul. The back of the album cover represents symbols of the 1970s such as the Black Power fist chain, the Afro pick comb, the black Go Go boots, and the star glasses. The front cover parodies the Superfly lettering of Superfly by Curtis Mayfield.

On Screamn' Dat Pimpin'… It's 12 o'clock with OG Jhiame Dog and he needs a dub sack. OG Jhiame is a player raised by the old school and spreadin' hustle to the new school. This is an international hustle. From Hollywood to Houston. From Newark to Paris to Dubai and to New York City. The drum programming is on point.

Hustler's Anthem is dedicated to all the hustler's of course. Whatever your hustle is, keep on pimpin'! Whether you a doctor, a lawyer, or a social worker. Do whatcha gotta you do!  Pimp On samples The Floaters - Float On. I love the Djembe drums and drum beats on Pimp On. Stop Hi-Cappin' is talking about religion at first. The beat is real good. E-Z Way Out is about a brother (hustler) making his way out the ghetto. The title says it all. Gangsta! I B Not is all about the streets. Ooo! Wee is just a party jam.

Cats Wanna Be Dogs is an ode to George Clinton - Atomic Dog. Perfect G-Funk jam! The choir, beats, bass, and vox are on point! Hey Hoez is dedicated to all the hoez out there! You know who you are. Playarism is about how playas do. Playa's Blues is a Blues track featuring famous Blues musician artist Leon Banks. Although I wish it were more than 2 minutes and 50 seconds long. It should have been close to 4 or 5 minutes long.

For some reason this album went under the radar. Maybe it was something with Southwest Distribution or lack of promotion. I don't know.
I rate this album, Screamn' Dat Pimpin', 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #121

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Overtime by Baldy Loc. This album was released on Repdatent in 2007. (Although it has that old Mobstyle Records sound.) Fedy samples Atomic Dog by George Clinton. Fedy is one G-Funk track you'll never get bored of. Think neo-gangsta like 50 Cent, G-Unit, Nino (P.K.O.) Shot Callers, 220, La Chat, Gangsta Boo, and DJ Quik. Singles are Sara, Fealingz, and Ghetto Sad Song. This album is bangin West Coast shit! It has 18 tracks.

I rate this album, Overtime, 5/5*****.

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review R.O.M.E -N- Tha Darkcide - Slippin N Tha Darkness. This album was released on Funky Town Productions outta Fort Worth, Texas, and distributed by Midwest Records in Dallas, Texas in 1995. (Funky Town Productions is a part of Funky Town Records based outta Fort Worth, Texas.) R.O.M.E -N- Tha Darkcide are from Luling, Texas. A small town of 3,300 people 31 miles or so right outside of Austin, Texas. Which is The Live Music Capital of The World!! (There is a PO Box to Luling, Texas. Those of you who have this CD should already know.)

Although this CD is Hip Hop/Rap, I can heard the blends of Electronic, Rock, and Soundtrack. This is a very horrorcore album. Especially with the Frankenstein zombie-esque crooked pointy red lettering with thee yellow crescent moon to the right and the black tree branches to the left.

The first track is Slippin N' Tha Darkness. Slippin N' Tha Darkness is a very G-Funk horrorcore track. You can hear a chorus in the background. Slippin N' Tha Darkness samples the track Be Down by Ghetto Boys. (Ghetto Boys is now Geto Boys.) This is one dark mood for a track. The second track is Distant Train. The Blues harmonica is present in the background. Distant Train talks about topics such as slavery, making friends with your enemies, making peace, shooting, and killings on government owned Section 8 housing. This is a really negative track. But there are things in life that will be negative.

The third song is The Devil Wanna Smoke Me. This track is mixed with Electronica and Hip Hop/Rap. It is 9 and half minutes long. Enough to make up an entire length or an album sampler. The fourth and last song is Goodnight.

Although the album only has 4 songs, you should buy it! Even thought it's more of an EP. But get this! There were only 200 copies EVER made of that CD. It is extremely rare!!! This is one EP that both US, Japanese, French, and German sellers and buyers online will definitely go after!

I rate this album/EP, Slippin N' Tha Darkness, 5/5*****!

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will Poi Dog Pondering - Volo Volo . Volo Volo was released on Columbia Records in 1992. This album was done when Poi Dog Pondering was still in Austin and before they moved to Chicago in 1995.

Lackluster is an ironic song because of the way Poi Dog Pondering was supposed to make it big and didn't, but other than that it's an OK song. Collarbone to me is more of a Jazz Rock song. Meaning that the song Collarbone is a crossover of Jazz and Rock. I can hear both the grand piano and Jazz piano in the background of the vocals. Get Me On is about getting to the truth. Get Me On sound like Latin Rock.

The Hardest Thing is love, which proves to be the hardest topic on the song The Hardest Thing. It's about lovers dictating each other and dictating other people. Think about them arguing and fighting. Consummating as well. Ta Bouche Est Tabou is another love song. I've Got My Body is a good song. Jack Ass Ginger is a funny song. Be The One is a skip. Tall and Building should have been one song together call Tall Building.Te Manu Pukara is  fast playing banjo song which to me sounds like a Spanish Country song. Entrance should have been the first song as the intro. Endtrance is fine when its at.

Here is how I think the tracks to Volo Volo could have been laid out… Entrance should have been the first song as the intro. Tall and Building should have been one song together call Tall Building. Be The One should have been omitted. Volo Volo should have a crossover album with Jazz and Rock being called Jazz Rock. I've Got My Body should have been about record companies owning peoples souls or a sexual track about intercourse.

I hate the way Poi Dog Pondering got screwed by Columbia Records. Poi Dog Pondering was supposed to make it big yet they didn't. The album Volo Volo was supposed to prove to be their big break, but I guess shit didn't pan out for whatever reason.
I rate this album, Volo Volo, 4/5****!

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Hoodlum Priest - The Heart of Darkness.

For those who think this album is Hip Hop, you're right! Think Trip Hop and Techno. I love the Egyptian style paint on the front album cover. It looks really great! This album samples various story bits from Egyptian mythology. On top of the use of drums and bass which I like. There is Indian, Hindu, and African music used an influence. There are film samples used in the songs as well. Addicts samples from the film Naked Lunch and Naked Time samples from the film Twins of Evil.  However, the album only has 8 track which is too short for me.

I rate this album, The Heart of Darkness, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #117

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Physical Funk by Domino. Physical Funk was released on Outburst Records, Columbia Records, RAL, and Def Jam in 1996. This was his last album on Outburst and Def Jam unfortunately. This album charted #34 on the BillBoard in 1996.

Microphone Musician reintroduces us to Domino. You may remember Domino's Getto Jam back in 1993. Everyone loved it! It's Diggedy Domino!! He's a microphone fiend on this track. Lovely Jazz piano in the intro. Macadocious is underrated G-Funk cut. The beats are superb! Domino meets this woman at a bus stop. She wants him. They both have a conversation. Domino invites the lady to a house party. Domino is The Mac!

Domino makes an ode to Hennessey on Hennessey. That's his drink. Perfect G-Funk beats on Hennessey! This is a mellow party jam. Hennessey could have been a single, but corporate sponsors such MTV, VH1, and BET would not play due to the references to alcohol. Plus people like Delores Tucker would have caused static over the song.
Now what makes the world go round besides checks? Sex and Domino! Physical Funk is the #1 single of this album along with So Fly and Do You Qualify?.  The music video for Physical Funk was made up of parodies of other videos such as Baby Got Back, Scream, Addicted To Love, Wild Thing, and the cartoon version of Fantastic Voyage.

Domino revisits Do You Qualify? except the lyrics have been reworded a bit. Although DJ Battlecat produced this song, Domino produced a majority of the Physical Funk album.
Trickin is an ode to prostitution and sex. One of those slow jams to have intercourse (sex) to.
For those who don't know, Long Beach Funk sampled Funkin' For Jamaica (N.Y.)" by Tom Browne. Long Beach Funk should have been another single as well! So Fly hit #17 on the charts. So Fly is a good smooth sexy song. Domino Got Beats is a good song. Good Part is about sex. Get Your Groove On is a great G-Funk track. Pop that coochie! The remix of Physical Funk is superb.

If the fans and news media would have stopped accusing Domino stealing Snoop Doggy Dogg's style, then Domino's career would have blown up bigger. Then Domino would have stayed on Outburst Records and Def Jam for 2 more albums. Plus Physical Funk seemed a bit rushed. This was his last album on Outburst and Def Jam unfortunately. If Def Jam had not dropped Outburst before Physical Funk dropped, Physical Funk would have done a lot better. This album needed A LOT more promotion than it got. Also the album was as sample crazy as the last album. If the album had Domino's In The House as a track and a single, Physical Funk would have done a lot better.

I rate this album, Physical Funk, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #116

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will write about Encantado by System 7.  This album is an Electronic/Dance album. For those who don't know, Encantado means "enchanted". Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy wrote all the tracks on this album.

Planet 7 is a really futuristic track! The noodling on Bewitched is superb! The gated reverb was good to use. It sounded like Laura from OHN was playing the guitar. Back To Reality is an ambient track. Octopussy sounds a Euro dance mix from the UK or France. Think Daft Punk, Art of Noise, and Kraftwerk. Think Electronic Trance, dance, and not europop. Bassrock is not what I expected. I was looking for more bass and more rock. The rest is OK.

I rate this album, Encantado, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #115

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Lynch - A Pinch of Lynch.

For those who don't know Lynch is none other than Roger Troutman II of Zapp and was the son of Roger Troutman. Roger Troutman II unfortunately died in January of 2003. He was in Zapp in until 2003. Lynch started touring with Zapp in 1987. His father taught him how to use the talkbox.(Although there supposedly is a Roger Troutman III out there somewhere.) He learned how to use the keyboards and master the background vocals. He did not get as much fame as his father Roger Troutman, but Lynch did have a cult following underground as far a songwriting goes and other music credentials.

Anyway… On with the album! No One Ever will is one of those "No one will ever understand our love." type of tracks. Change My Mind one of those "What can I do to make you love me?" type of tracks. It's very much a love ballad. Can It Be is another one of those love ballad songs. It's one of those What can you do to make me change my mind so that I can love you?" type of tracks. Here Once Again reminds me of Been This Way Before by Zapp.

Bobby Glover was on the vocals for Magic Spell. Magic Spell is a cover version of the same song which is called Your Spell by Bobby Glover. To sum it all up, Bobby Glover did the song first. It's a cinch with a pinch of Lynch on A Pinch of Lynch. The title track fits perfectly in the middle of this album. Ray Davis (aka Sting Ray) showcases his bass playing skills.
Heartbreaker is Lynch's cover version of a Zapp song by the same name. This single record should have gone Gold! It's absolutely funky! I love the drum snares, kick drums, clave, cymbals, beats, and percussion! The tempo is sped up. The reverb gates are on point. Heartbreaker is one of those skating rink type of songs. I basically love EVERYTHING about this song!!!!

I Found Out sounds like a late 1960s Philly style ballad. You can the kick drums and the cymbal crashes. The chords are set in a very romantic mood. Lynch feels that he broke with up with his girlfriend and now he wants her back. But Lynch "found out" she's dating another man. Even though he realizes it's too late.
Scooby Doo is… well… a tribute to the Scooby Doo show. Into My Life is about Lynch accepting his girlfriend into his life. I love the perky little bass on the song Sara. Sara is a nice little song.

Perhaps if Roger Troutman II had used "Roger Troutman II - A Pinch of Lynch" or "Roger Troutman II - A Pinch of Roger" for the album title instead of "Lynch - A Pinch of Lynch" the album would have should more and Lynch would have been nearly as successful as his father Roger Troutman and would gotten his name out there more.  Also music was transitioning from Dance to New Jack Swing. If Lynch had released this album in 1986 instead of 1989, the album would have gotten more noise. This is why I disagree sometimes with Capitol Records! The never really promoted A LOT of their musicians the right way. This album was slept on and very much overlooked.

Anyway… I rate this album, A Pinch of Lynch, 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #114

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Ultravox - U-Vox.

This album was released in 2009. This placed at a well receptive place on the UK BillBoard Charts, but the album was criticized by hardcore Ultravox fans. This was an Utravox reincarnation fronted by Midge Ure. To me, I think it was a new beginning for Ultravox. Unusual instrumentation was used. Billie Currie was the lone keyboardist of the band,

Same Old Story was an okay but not great song. Same Old Story reminded me of Van Halen and Outdates. Sweet Surrender has a good upbeat pace beats to it.  Dream ON sounds like a n Enya song. The Prize sounds like a theme song. All Fall Down is played like a Coda. Time To Kill should have been a single. Moon Madness is a hard song. Follow Your Heart is a great song! All In One Day is the last song that Midge Ure played while with the band. All In One Day was the lowest charting single by Ultravox reaching #88 on the charts in the UK. 3 is a better song. Dreams? is too short of a song.

If the Ultravox fans didn't pay too much to the conservative media and liberal media, maybe this album would have done better. And if Ultravox wasn't trying to change their sound then the album would done better as well.

I rate this album, U-Vox, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #113

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will focus on the graphics on Snoop Dogg's Da Game Is To Be Sold album.

Moving to No Limit in 1997 for Snoop Dogg proved to improve his musical career. Da Game Is To Be Sold was a departure from his two previous West Coast sounding album. This album was a lot more commercial. Thanks to Pen & Pixel Graphics, the album stood out with that bling bling and jewelry in Snoop Dogg's name on the top. The title at the bottom of the album cover is gold with bling bling! That's what made it go platinum. Pen & Pixel Graphics always stands out to everyone in a good way. Woof! proved to be a smash hit! So did Slow Down, but not as much as Woof!. He went into pop after R&G in 2004.

I rate this album, Da Game Is To Be Sold, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #112

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will Under Investigation by C-Ordell. This album came out and dropped in 1995 under BLVD Records. C-Ordell helped Lil Sin get into the music business. C-Ordell was signed to the same record label as Lil Sin was in the 1990, which was BLVD Records.  C-Ordell is known as Derrick Crawford and he is from San Antonio, Texas! Finesse 1, RicĂ©, C-Ordell, Sugabear, and Lil Sin were the producers for this album. Denise James (now Denise White) sings the background vocals and Daryll Surratt does the guitars. Under Investigation has that 1990s gangsta rap and G-Funk sound to it.

Generation is the first song on the album. It samples Soul II Soul's Keep On Movin'. C-Ordell tells us he's the tightest MC from San Antonio, Texas! He has castle where he writes rhymes and fucks the finest hoes. This should have been a single! I don't know why it was not. BLVD is Rollin' is the second track. C-Ordell shows us how he rolls with BLVD Records because ain't no party like a BLVD party because a BLVD party is the shit!!  BLVD is Rollin' is the 1st single. Smoke Filled Room is and ode to ganjah smokers and weed smokers. An ode to 420. Denise James sings in the background. In My Life tells about the drama that surrounds C-Ordell's life.

On Live By The Gun, a female news reporter appears at the beginning of the song telling us that a fatal shooting had occurred in inside Windsor Park Shopping Mall sent Christmas shoppers running for cover. The mall was crowded that night. Many people who say they saw it are not afraid to shop there. C-Ordell dips thru the cut and notices an unfamiliar face. Something's going on. He 's never seen the individual in/around his neighborhood. He's a bit paranoid. C-Ordell has binoculars, 9 millimeter, and a ski mask. It's do or die. C-Ordell heads back to the hood. (He committed a jackin' basically.) Someone snitched on C-Ordell and now he's doing a year in the county jail for drug possession. He gets Sugabear to bail him out. He's now out in the hood. The track ends with a gunshot.

1 4 U has a dark brooding mood to it. C-Ordell tells us everything he does is for BLVD. It's about loyalty and betrayal. This is a danger themed song. Funeral had some DEEP bass to it. On Final Cry, C-Ordell and Lil Sin get together on Final Cry. C-Ordell asks how Lil Sin feels about his father passing away. This is the ORIGINAL version of Final Cry and NOT the one on Lil Sin's debut album Frustrated By Death in 1996. The one on Frustrated By Death is a remix.
Swangin' is a bouncy tune., Swangin' is the second single. C-Ordell tells us where's he's kicked it in various cities in the US and the world.

On Land Of The Living, what you see is what you, what you get is not always a good thing. Actions have consequences. C-Ordell once knew a guy by the name of Chuck Heimer. His friends were mixed up. They decided to skip school and go rollin'. One of his friends had a twelve gauge and planned to kill somebody. Chuck hears a voice in his head. It's his conscience. Johnny Ray sells crack to elementary kids. The system needs to do some time. C-Ordell tell us how real it is on these SA-Town streets. The title track (the last track), Under Investigation, has that James Bond theme with the heavy guitars with the detective crime theme for the score.

It's too bad this album did not reach the BillBoard and go platinum as C-Ordell wanted to happen. IF this album DID reach the BillBoard, It would be #3 for Top Heatseekers and #20 for Top 100. That's what I think should have happened. Oh well. Things happen for a reason.
Under Investigation is and was the most overlooked rap album to ever come out of Texas!! An excellent album!! No filler tracks. No filler material. Every song is worth playing!

I rate this album, Under Investigation, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #111

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review New Breed Of Hustlas - Pimp Arrest. Riverside has talent!

I love the yellow front album cover with four females n their knees!! You don't get that type of shit anymore. I miss that. The pimp is in all white. But the low tint contrast makes the album seem more 90s than 2000s. The album art on the front cover makes it look like Pimp Arrest came out in 1996 rather than 2002. But that's just me.

West Side has that classic rock from 1950 feel to it. I believe it's dope!! The beat is good. I love the guitars and bass. Silk was dope. IE Players is str8 up West Coast. Dope sample on Sunshine. For those who don't know, Sunshine was written for Sandy Hamilton. Supposedly Sandy was a prostitute. G-Bubs said she was a hoe. It's more sex themed. To sum it all up this album is more pimp-related  than gangsta. This album is more pimp-related than all their other albums. I feel this album is more Rock oriented than Hip Hop/Rap despite New Breed Of Hustlas being a rap group.

I rate this album, Pimp Arrest, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #110

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Imagination by Lisette Melendez.

I love the trippy acid colored front album cover and the yellow letters. Ecstasy is quite catchy! Time Passes By is the cut single. So was Make the Way. Never Ever should have been a single. Many songs here seem to have been rehashed versions of earlier quality hits or other songs. The album can get tiresome. Quickly.

Sadly I heard this album was thrown together from previous cuts and unreleased demos. I rate this album, Imagination, 2/5**.

Mixerr Album Reviews #109

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the album Forever by Bobby Brown.
From a sales point of view this album did not sell very well. It was the least promoted album in his career. Bobby Brown was still with MCA Records in 1997. 1997 was a bad year for MCA because the label MCA was in turmoil due to a bidding war with Geffen and Polygram Records at the time. So the promotion department of MCA wasn't doing so well. The other drawbacks were due to Bobby's bad image. He was known to be abusive to his ex-wife Whitney Houston and doing crack. He just needed to rehabilitate himself. Basically he had an ego problem.

Also he did not produce this album himself like he did on the previous album Bobby in 1992. He had full creative control over this album. The producers on this album were Carole Sager, Derek Allen, F-Sharp, Tim Kelley, Bob Robinson, Victor Merrit, Jerome Woods, and Kenny Finnel.

Anyway… On with the album!! Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown both did a good job singing in the intro. I'll give them both that. Still My Thang had the possibility of becoming a single and a music video. Feelin' Inside is the only single off this album. She's All I need should have been a single as well. My Place is more of an at night slow jam. Been Around The World is a more bouncy tune than My Place. I love the drums and bass on Give It Up! The horn synths are on point on Happy Days! Happy Days should have been a single also! Forever should have a single too! Sunday Afternoon is a slow jam too. Heart and Soul is good song.

It's too bad this album was under promoted and overlooked by MCA. If MCA and Bobby Brown had promoted this right, his career would have been a lot different then it is now. It's always good to have producers on more than a few songs or just one song. If Bobby hadn't done crack, things would have been a lot different.

This album is extremely underrated!! I rate this album, Forever, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #108

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review The Light of The Spirit. To me this album looks like it was done in 1978 rather than 1987. This is basically Electronic music. At the time when I was 13, I wasn't really feeling it. I thought of this album of 3/5*** album. Now that I'm older things are different. But other than that, Kitaro is an Electronic musician from Japan.

I loved the foreboding violin sound in the background. It really added to the mood. Sundance is a song that should have been a single. You can hear the rock sound in Sundance. The flutes were great on the song The Field. In the Beginning sound a bit medieval. Moondance is another great song! So are Howling Thunder and Journey To A Fantasy!

All in all this album great! I rate this album, The Light of The Spirit, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #107

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Nonesvch by XTC.

Even thought this album might be 5/5***** to the ultra hardcore XTC fans, it's really 3/5*** to most rock collectors. I keep seeing Nonsvch in stores such as Half Price Books and so on. its like the gift that keeps on giving. Despite the album being very rare, I always saw the cassette at Half Price Books for $3.96. (This was in 2008 when I was 15.) (US dollars). To me it's good ok, but not great. Colin Moulding wrote five songs for the album. Nonsvch did not do too well in the UK and the US. 1992 was just not a good year for XTC.

I rate this album, Nonesvch, 3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #106

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Hard To Get EP.

The front cover of the cassette single has a 3 leaf clover symbol in shape of a cloud form. The back cover is in black and white. It reminds me of U2. Starclub reminds me of U2 and Fleetwood Mac mixed together with Misfits. I really like that. Although his EP seems more 1980s than 1990s.

Hard to Get is a catchy upbeat song with a bounce theme to it added with some classic hard rock. The drums are very good. Let Your Hair Down is about having fun in the summer. Call My Name is a smooth calm song. It's about letting the pain go away. Love changes. Songs Hard To Get, Let Your Hair Down, The Question, and Call My Name are off the self-titled album. I think this EP is pretty good.

I rate this EP, Hard To Get 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #105

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Born Soul - From The Beginning To The End. Born Soul is K-Smooth the Innovator (Kelly Hancock), DJ Crash (of diRTy WoRMz), Born Soul (rapper), and Mello D. This album was released on Born Soul Productions in 1999 with distribution by Southwest Wholesale and INDI. Born Soul Productions is based outta Austin, Texas. Harold Green is the executive producer and the manager.

The productions are on point! I like that!! The Stress Factor skit should have came after Paper Chase. The song Stress should have been after Guiding Light. Brotha From The South was too short of a song for me. It should have been longer. This album will remind you of Outkast. Samples used in this album were Wonderful You by Peter Nero, The Party Continues by Jermaine Dupri, Love Put Me on the Corner by Isley Brothers, Searchin' by Roy Ayers, Tomorrow by The Brothers Johnson, Tribe Vibe Break Beats, and Give Me the Night by Quincy Jones. I  loved the beats, synthesized horn, keyboard programming,  synthesized beats, and productions of course.

I rate this album, From The Beginning To The End, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #104

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Alumnyh - The Album. This album was released on Born Soul Productions in 1999 with distribution by Southwest Wholesale and INDI. Alumnyh was a one time thing only. Born Soul Productions is based outta Austin, Texas.

The Intro explains who Alumnyh is and who the members are. Alumnyh is Born Soul, Mr. Man, Luscious T, R.C., Mello D, Chieve, Hennessey, and Golden Child. The Alumnyh song has nearly all the members of Alumnyh all on one track. Nursery Rhyme samples Tom Tom - Club Genius in a musical box instrument form. like how Alumnyh incorporated Hush Little Baby into rap on Nursery Rhyme. This should have been a single. In Drip Drop you can hear a sample from a Disney movie called Bambi. The song is Little April Shower.

Keep It Comin' samples Ron C - Funky Lyrics. Super sick bass on What Da Deal! Shzah Shzah is a Reggae fusion dancehall track. For the Love should have been a single. I loved the Fantasies track by Luscious T! Be Wit Me is a slow jam. I love the MIDI rock keyboard in the background. Great drum programming on the remix of Southern Fried Flav. Million Dollar Dreams is a catchy song. Lonely has a Latin feel to it. A slow song. Slave Chronicles is about Black History and a fast paced song! Slave Chronicles was produced by Reggie Coby. Too late is great song also!

I rate this album, Alumnyh The Album, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #103

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Young Namar - 4eva  Young. This album was released on SoufField in 2003. Santee of PRC Recordings makes an appearance. Lil Sin went under the name Young Namar for the first time on this album. The album has 12 songs and they're all very good. The producers for this album were Santee, Poppa Squali, Lil Sin, & LC-1. Artists features were Cashus, Santee, WB, and Bizzle.

Neva Cry is about standing strong and not giving up. Hands Up sounds like a party track. Loved By Many tells us about the love Lil Sin's been getting. He Ain't Done Yet tells us that Lil Sin is going to continue droppin' albums. He''s already platinum! Believe it or not! Family speaks for itself. Truth Lies in Pen shows us how cold Lil Sin's lyrics are!!  No Love is to all the haters and fakers. Global Freeze is about how Lil Sin has the game on lock. End Is Here is the outro.

I rate this album, 4eva Young, 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #102

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Crazie Locs - Gangsta's Long Journey. This one is going to a sort one due to time constraints with the Alumnyh, Born Soul, and Young Namar album reviews. So bear with me. Thanks!

This album was released on Gangsta Gansta Recordings in 2012. Crazie Locs is from San Jose. Crazie Locs is like Eminem's Asian alter ego! This is some gangsta shit! Crazie Locs claims every song  is banger!!!! Crazie Locs is really funny!!! This is pure comedy rap.  On with the album! Insecured Punk has some dope drum beats. Crazie Locs really shows them on Fly Like a Spaceship. Sundays I Rest is a slow track. Gangstas Wit Attitude is a tribute to N.W.A! Greyhound Luv is a rasta reggaeton track song. Track eleven features Troublz & Trumpz.

I rate this album, Gangsta's Long Journey, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #101

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Dwight Yoakam - Under The Covers.

Under The Covers was an underrated album. Had it been released in 1993 instead of 1997, the album would have gotten more recognition. Writers such as Sonny Bono, Brian Holland, Danny O'Keefe, Gladys Horton, Ray Davies, and Jimmy Webb contributed to this album. Even Sheryl Crow made a feature! Dwight Yoakam did a cover song of Claudette by Roy Orbinson. The album was supposed to go gold by RIAA standards. It shouldn't take anybody who's a musician to take 11 years to record an album.

I rate this album, Under The Covers, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #100

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the album Exposed by TC. For those who don't know, TC is from Sacramento, California. TC does the Indie music and R&B/Soul genres. The hit single is Hot Girl and the club single is Til the Sun Comes Up. The album was released on Soul 2 Real Entertainment. There are 13 tracks. TC is Therman Conner.

On the front cover, TC has that Jodeci look with the patent black leather jacket and the golden chain around the neck. He has that early-to-mid-90s look despite the 2000's sound. The keyboarding skills on My Way are good. Big City Benjamin's seems like a Puff Daddy track. Party In The Back is a party club track obviously. I love the Indian sitar on the song Hot Girl! You hardly ever get to hear those on R&B songs. You can definitely hear the early 2000's sound. Physical is a fast paced song. Sparkle should have been a single.

This is a great album! I rate this album, Exposed, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #99

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the self-titled album by OZ. This album was released on Extra Records in 1997. Despite O.Z. originally being from Sac-Town, Extra Records was/is from Vallejo, California. Which is near Oakland in the Bay Area. Well known Bay Area artists on the album were Mac Mall, Levitti, Mac Dre, Dubee aka Sugawolf, and the group Game Related who released Soak the same year on Corey Robbins' Robbins Entertainment. Brian Gardner mastered this album.

O.Z. has super fast lyrical flows. This is something to jam to in your lowrider or whether you're at the club. The bass is super sick! The album is hyphy! This album is long out of print and very hard to find. If you liked the Ozone album, then you'll like this album!!

I rate this self-titled album, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #98

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the album/EP First Sessions by Norah Jones.

In 2001, Blue Note A&R Brian Bacchus put Norah Jones with the experienced engineer named Jay Newland. Six of those songs made to First Sessions, while the other 3 songs made it to the 2002 album Come Away With Me. The song Come Away With Me should have been released as CD single in card sleeve form. Lonestar should have been a single. Don't know why is a cover song written by Jesse Harris. Norah Jones had done some background vocals for singer Victoria Williams who was on Atlantic Records at the time. This album covers jazz songs. 10,000 copies of this album were made! These were available at her live gigs. The album should have been longer. Nine songs would be fine.

I rate this album/EP, First Sessions, 4/5****.

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the album Flamed Up by Big June. This album was released on CD by Big N It Records in 2006. On the front album cover, Big June is posing up in nearly all red everythang at the corner of 1000 Meadowbrook Drive & 7800 Skyline Drive. Props to whoever did the graphic design!! Great Photoshop©® skills!!

Big June was fresh off parole in 2006 for shooting up an occupied dwelling. (He mentions that in the intro.) Artists mentioned in the intro are Suga Free, Lil Rob, JT The Bigga Figga, Lench Mob, and Brotha Lynch Hung. Big June higher than a helicopter! Big June is at you one mo' muthafuckin' gin! This ain't no "neo gangsta rap" 'like' 50 Cent or G-Unit. This is street gangsta rap! Although I don't know why Big June calls this "a mixtape album". It just has new shit and old shit. The next song is the 1st single off the album called Smash Down. I love the perfection in the drums. Samsh Down was recorded in 2005.

I LOVE the solo guitar note on the title track called Flamed Up. This a song to walk to in slow motion as a building explodes in the background and bursts into flames. Like a X-Men commercial! Big June is FLAMED UP from the Skyline neighborhood in San Diego. He got on red everythang. References to gun types such as Mac 11 and AK's are mentioned. Stormin' Stackabill, Gangsta Boi, and BossManHog all make guest appearances on this FLAMED UP track. The beats are on point!

On Where I Live, Big June talks about how it is with the G's on he block. The spacey electronic keyboards are used on Buy My Shit. Big June wants you to ride to this. Im'a Buss At U is Big June cover song of Butch Cassidy - I'm A Hustla. The Dice Game is a skit. The vocoder is what makes In The Parking Lot a great track! The drum beats are on point!! Skyline Nigga is 2006 version of Big June Nigga. Straight Jackin' is a remake of itself. The last track is Southeast San Diego.

I rate this album, Flamed Up, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #96

This is Michael Mixerr. I am going  to review Prism Of Eternal Now.

This is album is not on one continuous track as the last album I reviewed. THis is more loop based work. Unlike ZOME this album has no title tracks at all. The back cover of the album is very similar of the label of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap with a pink background. This is something to listen to on your mp3 player. This is electronic music. Think Indie Rock!

I rate this album,  Prism Of Eternal Now, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #95

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to talk about the Sun Shifts album by White Rainbow. This album was released in 2007 on Yarnlazer.

A limited edition of 100 CD-Rs handmade and hand-drawn by Adam Forkner. It is an hour and six minutes long. The song itself goes through many different phases and sections, finally fading out. There were a number of looper pedals and effects pedals used. Especially in their live concerts! I love the arrays. The array is done well. Adam Forkner produced this album.

I rate this album, Sun Shifts, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #94

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review the Steamboat Live '97 by Vallejo. This album was remastered from a live board 1997 cassette tape from their live concert at The Steamboat in 1997. The well known Carlos Sosa plays his trademark saxophone. So does Ralo Vallejo.

Get It up and Royal Tease were previously unreleased. I love the Drums 'N Percussion. Bonin' In The Boneyard was a fun song. Boogieman was a previous cut off another. Most of the songs on here are live songs. There are only 9 songs though. It's really more of an EP.

I rate this album, Steamboat Live '97, 4/5****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #93

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Vallejo's Black Sky album which was supposed to be released in 2001, but was pushed to 2003. This has to be the most overlooked album done by Vallejo!

I'm about to give you  a rundown of the history behind this story. This album was recorded from 2001 to 2002, but was not released until 2003.  The labels Epic, Sony, Vallejo Music Group, and Vallejo had many different views on what direction the band should pursue in the changing times in the state of the music industry and the media news. Many of the songs on this album were inspired by the post 9/11 era. That's why this album shows a darker side of Vallejo. It was truly a trying time for the group.

The Stereo album was written in this time span as well. Sony and RED Distribution were supposed to be the distributors for the Stereo album in 2002. Which due to label politics and marketing, did not work out well. Vallejo was to import their album to Mexico, but instead Sony imported Stereo to Japan. That was against the Vallejo bands wishes causing them to depart with Sony. The band parted ways with Sony in January of 2002.

I rate this album, Black Sky, 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #92

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review the self-titled album by Big June. This album was released on Big N It Records which is Big June's own label in 2003. (He left Repo Records by then already.) This was also known as the Bread N Meat album. Featured artists were Gangsta Boi, Ern Bo, D Major, Shannon Bo, Gino, Jaz, and others.

At the begging of Bread N Meat, Big June lets us know he isn't trying to do the J-O-B thang right now. The beat is catchy. Drop That Top is a dedication to low riders and strippers.
I love the drums and bass on Old Time Memories. Big June takes puffs of that peyote and starts daydreamin'. Everywhere Big June went, he had to have a bitch with him and she ugly she didn't mean shit to him. Bitches crowdin' spaces at the skating rink. Friday is a great day to get high. Van Glorious is an underrated song by Big June!

Can't We Just is an ode to all the weed smokers out there! A great song to get faded to! Something to smoke blunts to. The beats are sick! The bass line is sick! All You Can Eat is continuation of Bread N Meat. Shake It Low and Panties Come Down are club joints! Roll It Up  is an ode to all the weed smokers out there as well! Big June goes straight Reggae on this track! The last song is I Love Bangin'.

I rate this self-titled album, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #91

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review the album My Day GoeZ On by Big June. It was recorded from 2002 to 2003. The three tracks done in 1992 that the front cover of the album is referring to are Intro, Big June Nigga, and Straight Jackin'. Which were off the EP's Da Plug and Nightrider. Big June had just done a 5 year bid in the pen at the time for a home invasion and robbery. This album was released on Big June's own imprint label Big N It Records and Repo Records. Party joints with that West Coast sound are All Night, Gee Uv Ya Own, and Damn!.

First of is the intro to Night Rider which repeats Big June N-I Double G-A over and over on a sample of More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp. Screams, screeches, tires peel outs, gunshots, ammo, and bullets can be heard in the loud background. I didn't like it too much because it got annoying real quick. Big June is letting us know… Big June is comin' at yo ass one mo gin!

Still Jackin' is a continuation of Straight Jackin'. This is where Big June picked up where he left off on this track. I love the piano skills by VMF aka Steve Vicious. The song features Gangsta Boi as well. This is a continuation of where he left off basically. On So Unfuckwid'able, Big June tells us why he's Unfuckwid'able. Steve Vicious produced this track as well. The volume of the production is very loud. It is well and on point!
Gee Uv Ya Own is a dope song! Big June tells how to keep to yourself and mind your own damn business. That's how the game goes sometimes. This shit slaps hard! Big June is an OG. All Night is about fealin' freaky up all night. It's a late night jam. I love the drums and bass.

Me, You, And God is about Big June having second thoughts on sleeping with his homeboy's girl. He wants to keep a relationship with her, but he knows he has to keep it secret. He mentions ass and tits. Big June makes a reference to smoking blunts as well. As well as references to sexual positions.

Shackled explains the events about how Big June was locked up and why he was locked up. The charge was shooting up an occupied dwelling. The courts did not drop the sentence for Big June on the gun charge. The other charges were breaking & entering. Talk about walking a straight. This song features another rapper named Mally. Mally states that his prison number was K70585 and the charges were murder and weapon possession. Big June goes with a Reggae flow on this track!

For All The Wrong Reasons explains the reasons why G's keep getting caught in the midst of doing stupid shit. Such as 25 to life with no get back, committing shootings, other shit. Big June goes with a Reggae flow on this track as well! I Ain't Trippin' Off Of You is telling us Big June won't trip on bitches.

On the title track, we appear to be at prison in the parole line. Big June is having another conversation with another inmate about what he's gonna do different when he gets out. Big June's name gets called. The guard addresses him as Inmate Price. Big June is out the gates! The whip on chrome starts up. It's back on. Nothing has changed since Big June had left these South East streets.

I love the drums and bass on Damn!. The eleventh track is a radio edit of All Night. Whatchu Hatin' Fo is asking why all the haters are hating. Luv Fa Ya is dedication to all the G's. It's a short and sweet song. The outro lets us know that Big June is coming out with another album. The last two tracks are Straight Jackin' and Big June Nigga.

This album slaps hard! The production is on point. There are no filler tracks. I rate this album, My Day GoeZ On, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #90

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review the Nightrider EP by Big June. Nightrider was an EP that was put out on cassette and CD in 1994 by Repo Records. Repo Ric was Big June's manager at the time. Production was done by Repo Ric, Dr. Devious (Dr. Dev), and Steve Vicious.

I could not listen to it for the duration of 2:23. It is chaotic. Battle Rap was Big June spitten rhymes fast! It's only 2 minutes long as I said before.

Night Rider is a song off of another Big June EP on cassette called Nightrider. Big June was a young rider creepin' in the night. So don't get caught slippin'! On this song Big June talks about robbing and jacking people for they shit.  (He doesn't rap about this stuff anymore. So don't worry!) . The remix of Straight Jackin' is an unpolished unfinished version of a remix with a More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp with that G-Funk heavy sound.
Big June Nigga and Straight Jackin' were 2 cassette singles there were put out in 1992 and made it on this EP. Both songs have the gangsta rap theme about robberies, shootings, killings, and jackings. Big June on a mission. Nothin' But A Come Up is about puttin' in work and doin' dirt. Basically it's committing robberies and killings.

I rate this EP/album, Nightrider, 4/5****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #89

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review Da Plug by Big June. Da Plug was an EP that was put out on cassette and CD in 1994 by Repo Records. Repo Ric was Big June's manager at the time and Repo Ric also ran his record label called Repo Records and a hypeman for his Repo Boxing. Big June already had 2 cassette singles out called Big June Nigga and Straight Jackin' in 1992 which were in included on this  and the Nightrider EP I'm reviewing as well. Production was done by Repo Ric, Dr. Devious (Dr. Dev), and Steve Vicious.

I could not listen to it for the duration of 2:23. It is chaotic.

Night Rider is a song off of another Big June EP on cassette called Nightrider. Big June was a young rider creepin' in the night. He does it at night because that's when young motherfuckers get gunned down. He keeps 16 in the clip. Big June is form the Wicked Ass South East streets of San Diego when the gangstas kick it! So don't get caught slippin'!

Da Plug was a swell song. It was good. It is a well memorable song with huge heavy bass. The remix of Straight Jackin' is an unpolished unfinished version of a remix with a More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp with that G-Funk heavy sound. Battle Rap was Big June spitten rhymes fast! It's only 2 minutes long though. The radio version of Night Rider slaps harder!

I rate this EP/album, Da Plug, 4/5****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #88

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will the album Pursuit of Perfection by AP.9! Production is done by Don Cannon, Traxamillion, Rob Lo, and The Beatnix.  The album features Philthy Rich, Al Casino, Yukmouth, and a few others! The voice and tone fit. Damn great hook too.

This shit slaps harder than a bitch on wheels! I rate this album, Pursuit of Perfection, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #87

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review the compilation called Aliens In The Hood by Crhymes.

Aliens In The Hood is 2013 compilation done by Crhymes. The Aliens In The Hood compilation features Kurupt, Crooked I, Kendrick Lamar, Yelawolf, Cheech, AB Soul, and Ricky Rox. It has some mixtape material of course. Aliens in the Hood is a compilation unlike any other compilations out there right now! The compilation album is filled with untouched subject matter! None of that Harlem Shake crap or that Wocka Cocka Flame (Waka Flacka Flame).

Crooked I ripped up the third track!! He was West West wit it!! The fourth track had some horrorcore ass shit! The only thing I didn't like was the auto-tune. That killed the song. Yelawolf was good. Killer bass on track thirteen.

I rate this compilation/album, Aliens In The Hood, 4/5****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #86

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Leftovers by Vallejo. Only 1,000 copies were ever pressed on CD. It was really meant to be a digital download album only. This is basically a collection of outtakes and remixes from Vallejo. For all the hardcore Vallejo fans and Latin lovers.

Tono's Montreaux reminds me a lot of Bonzo's Montreaux from Led Zepplin's Coda album! Am I the only one that noticed that? It's almost exactly like Bonzo's Montreaux! Which is a drum solo. I love both songs.

I love the XXX 96 Mix. It was more instrumental than the album version. It reminds me a lot of the local ATX electronic band OHN. Man Lotion was a wack song. Snake In The Grass was on the soundtrack of True Blood. All you True Blood fans should know that!  I've already heard, Over You, Just Another Day, 2053, Soundcheck, Wasting My Time, and Into The New. Not to be mean or anything, but that wasn't what I was looking for.

Natasha appeared on the Japanese version of Vallejo's self-titled album and so did Irishman. For some reason in 1997 when Vallejo was signed to TVT Records, TVT decided to not include Natasha and Irishman on the US version of their self-titled album. I guess it was for promotional purposes or some other shit like that. TVT sucks! I never really liked them.

Dynamite Wack was diss song aimed at Dynamite Hack when they did a shit ass cover version of N.W.A.'s Boys In The Hood. Which wasn't funny at all! Somehow Dynamite Hack got to hit a chart at #12  and #2 on the BillBoard, thus killing any chance for Vallejo's albums to chart. Which I hated Dynamite Hack for! They are completely unoriginal which is why I don't like them. They had songs that were completely forgettable. They suck anyway!

I was expecting unreleased songs and not just cuts from other songs. Not remixes either. This compilation/album was just basically thrown together. Break Free, Dynamite Whack, Man Lotion, Tono's Montreaux and Just Game are the only real unreleased songs. Vallejo probably has 120-200 unreleased songs that probably have been released to the public by now.
I rate this album, Leftovers,  3/5***.

Mixerr Album Reviews #85

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Vallejo - Brothers Brew.

Vallejo is back at it again with their new album Brother Brew in 2012! There are not really any fillers on this album. This is a great CD to enjoy! The album has 10 songs. If you liked Stereo, You will like this! Some of it sounds like the Black Crows! Best Vallejo album in 2012! This album took 4 years to record. Take Me Away, Gone, With Everyday, Running, and Nothing To Lose all should have been singles. That is what I think.

The album is great! Buy it! I rate this album, Brothers Brew, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #84

This is Michael Mixerr. I will review Up next is Permanent Ability - From The Womb To Hollywood.

For those who don't know, From the Womb to Hollywood is the bands debut EP.  This EP was produced by Brian Lanese, who is the front man for Permanent Ability. The bands top selling hit single is Little Black Bra. This EP features Lige Curry of Parliament Funkadelic. Songs
I love the noodleing bass guitar on Hey Now. This should have been a single. For this EP, think funk rock.

I rate this EP/album, From The Womb To Hollywood, 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #83

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will talk about the Elektric Blue EP by Nicole Wray. This EP was released in 2001 by Elektra Records under Missy Elliott's Goldmind Inc. label.

The songs were I'm Lookin', Wanna Cruise, Bangin' (Don't Lie) with Prodigy of Mobb Deep and Missy Elliott, Mama Used To Say (No Joke) with Redman and Missy Elliott, and Without You on the first version.
The songs for the second version were Elektric Blue (Intro) with Missy Elliott, I'm Lookin', Wanna Cruise, Bangin' (Don't Lie) with Prodigy of Mobb Deep and Missy Elliott,  Mama Used To Say (No Joke) with Redman and Missy Elliott, Talk With Time, and Without You as the outro.

I'm Lookin' was a late night love song about looking for someone to love and hold on to. Also making sure the love was real. You might remember seeing the music video for this song on Midnight Love on BET back in 2001. This should have been the first single!
Wanna Cruise is one of those late night cruise songs. A song that you can cruise to when you're in your car cruising down the highway at night. Late at night would be the best! This should have been the first single!
Bangin' features Prodigy of Mobb Deep and Missy Elliott. Bangin' is an upbeat fast paced song about a man sleeping with another woman and about what Nicole will do to her main man after the love. Timbaland produced this song with his usual double drums over fast paced beats. This has a Rock feel to it. I love the horn synths in the background. This should have been the first single!

Mama Used To Say (No Joke) samples Mama Used To Say by 80's British electronic musician Junior. Rockwilder produced this song and Wanna Cruise. This song also features Redman and Missy Elliott. It's one of those skating rink type of songs as Missy Elliott put it herself on the Elektric Blue album sampler in 2001. This has a Rock feel to it. This should have been the second single!
Talk With Time is a sweet, subtle song great for storybook telling time. It's about her and her boyfriend not getting to see each other because there is not enough time. The clock is ticking in the background. Her brother Kenny Wray is on this song.
Without You is a song to surf to at the beach. This song was on the original Why Do Fools Fall In Love soundtrack. That's another great song. Fast paced too!!

I will talk about the other song that made it to other promos for this album as well as the 2001 album sampler on CD. Such as Too Controllin', Single Life (Interlude), Gonna Love You, and more!!!

Too Controllin' was too short. It needed two extra bridges with Missy Elliott. I do agree that Missy Elliott should have been in that song. You can hear the organ that is well known and used in church in the background. And the piano as well.
This is song was good but short. Single Life (Interlude) was too short as well. I love d  Nicole singing, but the song was too loopy. It needed to be longer.

Gonna Love You is clearly a cover of a Babyface song. It has the same melody as TLC's I Miss You So Much. This sound like a 90s song more than a 2000s song. If it were a single, it would have hit #77 on the charts. This is based on my research. I found out that the 2001 single for I'm Lookin' only hit #66 on the charts for the BillBoard.

The singles should have been done in this order!: Bangin' (Don't Lie) as #1, Mama Used To Say as #2, Without You as #3, Talk With Time as #4, Sweetest as #5, Wanna Cruise as #6, and I'm Lookin' as #7. That is how it should have been done to me.

If Nicole and Elektra had promoted Bangin' (Don't Lie) and Mama Used To Say (No Joke) as singles and made music videos, the album would had more of a chance for an official  release instead of promo albums and album samplers on CDs. Those two songs would have hit #3 on the BillBoard for 2001. Nobody was interested in late night love songs as they once were in the mid 1990s. She needed more fast paced songs. Nicole should have known that.

I rate this EP/album, Elektric Blue EP,  5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #82

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Streetz Got Me Gone by NBOH as I promised before.

The intro is a collab tracks of artists from Mobstyle Records such as Mr. Cas, Silk, Pops, Les Mo, Skin Head, and more. City of Thugstas show us the troubles of inner city youth in America who face crime, gangs, gang warfare, drugs, poverty, lack of better education, and much more drama.

No Luv has the siccest G-Funk line I have ever heard! I love the grand piano. That bass is great! Whoo Ryde? is about a taking a joyride.
G A Day is about serving a gram of cocaine a day to drug dealers and keepin' it g. It's about pushing a hard line of cocaine dust. A large line. 800 Vs Ides is about comparing the two alcoholic beverages.

BG Thang is the best song off the whole album! the music video even accommodates the song! I loved that G-Funk sound of the 1990s. It ain't nothin' but a BG Thang. Let the lil loccs hang. Let the big homies know.

Streetz Got Me Gone is the title track about how the streets can turn you into a crazy criminal. This has absolutely crazy insane bass. Suspect Unidentified samples clips from Lone Ranger, Walker Ranger, various detective shows, detective movies, cop shows, and other action movies.
All Da Bitches is an ode to all the females. Locs Dye 2 is a song dealing with death. Boone Docks was another single. Long Live Da Hustlas is an ode to all hustlas! My Dawgz is maybe a hidden track.

I rate this album, Streetz Got Me Gone, 5/5*****!

Mixerr Album Reviews #80

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to talk about the self-titled album by Birdland.

This has to be the most wanted album in glam rock ever! It has been out of print since 1991. It was a foldout album cover for as a poster for their concert in Japan in 1990. Unfortunately this was proven to be their last album due to problems with their management with Radioactive Records. However, this is a must have for any rock fans out there!!!

Anyway, on with the album! Rock 'n' Roll Nigger is their most memorable song off the album. Quite a controversial name. Paradise was too short of a song to me. The same goes for Hollow Heart. It has more than 9 tracks. Radioactive made a bad business decision by holding this album back a year. So did Lazy Records.

I rate this self-titled album 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #79

This is Michael Mixerr. I will today review an album by Don Diego called Dead Man Talking (sometimes referred to as Dead Man Walking). This was done in 2001 and in 2005. Don Diego is from San Diego, California and is now currently serving jail time for numerous charges.

The exclusive tracks What's Gangsta and We Gangsta appears on a different version of the CD. This was on the Limited Edition that was done in 2001. I'll do both 2001 and 2005.
Well known artists such as Black Mikey, Mitchy Slick, and Tiny Doo of Tha WrongKind camp make features as well!

The bass lines are sick on Ya Know He Bang! This is about a how a nigga bangs and how a nigga bangs in the process of gang banging. Whether it's shootin' the gun, toten' the big D, and smokin' weed. Livin' the G life. That's just to sum it all up.
Smash For The Bone is a song for those hardcore gang bangers who grew up in San Diego and knew their history. That hard West Coast shit! Yeah dat!

I Rather Be is about where Don Diego would rather be at. Turf Bugs is aimed at women who prostitute and who are hot.
My Real Niggaz is dedicated the people and homies who been down from day one. Also for those who never tripped. You better know who your homies are. No snitches or fags. No weak links or busters as Jayo Felony put it.

I rate this album, Dead Man Talking, 5/5*****.

Mixerr Album Reviews #78

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Still Here by Lil Sin who now goes by the name Young Namar. Still Here was released on CD in 2005 on Lil Sin's SoufField label. (The re-release was in 2010 I think.)
This has to be Lil Sin's most underrated albums next to his other albums such as Who Got Yo Back and My Secret. The album has that 90s/2000's San Antonio sound with that Doo-Dooism sound with the bass guitars and heavy synths. Poppa Squali produced a majority of this album.  Santee might have been on here as well. I don't know.
I LOVE the drum programming throughout out the whole album! Production is on point! This is more rock oriented. It still has Hip Hop/Rap though.

Anyway, on with the album! Lil Sin marks his return in the Intro. Lil Sin discusses his previous successes in the Intro. Lil Sin brought you Frustrated By Death, which later brought Who Got Yo Back. Who Got Yo Back was rated 4 mics in the Source Magazine and 3 ½ mics in the Murder Dog Magazine. It should have been rated 5 mics in the magazines I just mentioned because it is THAT GOOD! TRUST ME! Lil Sin thinks his best album was Frustrated By Death.

The title track Still Here lets us know that Lil Sin isn't going no where. He takes on a journey of his music career. Lil Sin also talks about how he toured 1,000 cities across the world! He talks about he and BLVD Records had made connections and deals with different people such as Bun B, Pimp C, Ant Banks, Lady Lunatic, and whole bunch of other people. Also different companies such as BLVD Records, Unstoppable Records, PRC Recordings, Villain Recordz, Tone City Recordz, Mendez Productions, Big Ballin' Recordz, Southwest Wholesale, and Select-O-Hits. All that good shit! I love the rock guitar sample used on this tack. It has that rock feel to it. Especially the drum programming. Poppa Squali has great piano skills.

Cop A CD has an Arabic flute beat to more of a Middle Eastern beat. More of a Middle Eastern feel to itself. It's a lot different from any other Lil Sin song. It's a great song! I just wish it were a bit longer.
That's all.

On the song Success, Lil Sin again show cases his previous successes. In 1996, Frustrated By Death sold over 300,000 copies. In 1998, Who Got Yo Back sold over 300,000 copies! In 2000, My Secret sold 300,000 copies. 2000 was the same year that Livin'-N-Sin sold around 1,000,000 copies!! (Platinum status for those of you who believe Lil Sin or not!!)
As Lil Sin put it "It ain't about the money, nigga. It's in your heart." Not about selling out to mainstream music.
I think Lil Sin might be giving us a hint to why he's not BLVD Records anymore and now on his own label SoufField. Along with PRC Recordings with Santee. Lil Sin mentioned he's not well off financially because his brother is gone. I'm assuming this happened in 2001.

This applies for both the songs Still here and Success. As I said before… For those who don't know, Lil Sin (Ronnie Warner Jr.) is from the Eastside of San Antonio (Eastwood). He started out on BLVD Records with Clyde Williams III aka Sugabear and C-Ordell in 1995 while working on his debut album Frustrated By Death and C-Ordell's Under Investigation album. They both got him started in the music business. So did his father Rodney Warner Sr. (R.I.P.) Every time Lil Sin releases an album, it usually sells around 300,000 copies.

Clyde Williams III aka Sugabear ran BLVD Records from 1995 to 2001 in San Antonio, Texas.
BLVD Records, Youngsta Records, Suthern Merchandise, and Tone City Records were running things in the 90s when it came to Hip-Hop/Rap. San Antonio had an up and coming Hip Hop/Rap scene in the early to mid 90s. Such as P.K.O., Twice Tha Power, Brown Tribe, Tribe 46, MC Falcon, Chuy Loko, C-Ordell, K-Sam, Nino (Pony J), C-Stud Ville, Princess Kaos, Choice, DJ Trini B, and many more!!! Record labels such as Youngsta Records, 210 Records, On Time Productions, Big Ballin Recordz, Mendez Productions, PRC Recordings, Villain Recordz, and 3rd Degree Entertainment were up and coming record labels in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
Lil Sin is now on his own label called SoufField and has been since 2001. He says it feels good to be on his own independently.

On with the other songs. Can't Wait is about sexual intercourse. It's also about getting sprung. (You all should know what I mean.) Basically it's just sexual intercourse between love couples.
Can I (Next 2 U) is about Lil Sin loving relationship with his girlfriend. It's about settling down, getting married, having kids, and investing in their homes. The loves never ends until death. The song was done in 2004. In the middle of Can I (Next 2 U), Lil Sin finds out that his girlfriend had cheated on him with another man. His feeling are hurt so bad. The human beatboxing can be heard. Can I (Next 2 U) songs like a song that came out of the late 80s. I'm not sure what the sample is.

The human beatboxing can be heard at the very beginning of Jonny. Jonny saw the gangster lifestyle at an early age. Jonny chose to live his life in a maze and now he wishes he could turn it all back. He's in jail obviously as a consequence. Jonny was a fighter in school and on the street. Now he's lost a friend. 25 to life is what he's dealing with.
The streets can make you or break you. It's really hard to trust your click. Nobody knows who you are anymore. Jonny used to be a rap star with a plush lifestyle. All the cars and women are gone. Jonny messed up his life. Jonny acts gangsta when he isn't. Jonny thinks he's a baller when he's broke. Jonny smoke pot when the situation is hot. Information was leaking in the club by hoes. Jonny wasn't expecting thugs to have slugs. Jonny's family is on the line. The feds are getting closer to Jonny thanks to a snitch. US Marshals are on foot. Jonny hasn't eating in weeks and he's running out of places to hide. Money is tight. So he decides to take a trip to Port Aransas, Texas. Maybe Jonny will do good in Kansas and do damage. He's still laying low of course.

The song Gangsta is about who's gangsta or not. Look at this fat ass faggot saggin' his pants and wears a colorful rag on his head. The colors seen on the American and British flags. (Bloods & Crips reference for those who don't know.) With that pistol in hand you want to act like you're all bad when you're really not. Just ready to put some people into body bags. That's how you really want to represent your gangs? That's just a sad case of dumbness.
A snitch is at a club. Some thugs slip something into his liquor. Outside the club is where the thugs catch the snitch slippin'.
The production is on point as I said before. I love the drum programming skills by Poppa Squali. He has great programming skills!

Be Glad has that Rock sound to me. That's what I think. Lil Sin explains why you'll never have a friend like him. There is no friend like Lil Sin. If you do find a friend like Lil Sin, it won't be him. It will be someone else.

On Neva Been Here, Lil Sin explains the relationships with his 2 sons, Trevion and Kevin. He's trying to be the father he can be. He's no longer into that gangsta lifestyle he was in when he did Frustrated By Death with C-Ordell in 1996. He's trying to do the family thang. He was also living Austin at the time. During that time in 1995 to 1996, Lil Sin was living in Boston. He went back to back from Boston to San Antonio while having to kids. (2 sons Kevin and Trevion.) Lil Sin wants be there more for his kids.

Moments In Love samples the Art of Noise song Moments In Love.. Except the tempo, speed, and pitch have been altered. Also there is extra drum programming to accompany this song. This song is about have sexual intercourse.

The human beatboxing can be heard at the very beginning of Space Rain. This song has more of an electronic feel to it. It's Young Namar. This is probably another sex song. I can hear drum samples also.

The last track is Thank U. Gangsta Horne (Winston Horne) is mention on this track. He died in 1995. It's a shame. His parents are meant mentioned as well. This song is dedicated to everyone who helped Lil Sin in his music career. Lil Sin is the man to all of his fans when the mics in his hands. Lil Sin would be shooting people and selling drugs if he didn't rap and do the family thang. His kids gotta eat too. As I explained before, Lil Sin's not trying to be gangsta anymore. He's trying to do the family thing. (Family thang.) That was in 1996. He's gotta focus on the present and future.

This album is really good. If you get the chance, buy it! You won't regret it! Lil Sin has never put out a bad album. Take my word for it! Lil Sin is a mix of Scarface, 2pac, Tha Realest, Tela, and Devin The Dude.
I rate this album, Still Here, 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #77

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will be reviewing Livin'-N-Sin by Lil Sin.

I love the poetic intro. Poetry is good. As I said before, this is the remix version of Free and NOT the original version from Who Got Yo Back on BLVD Records. Both UGK members are on this song. Strip is a song about taking your clothes off and having sex. This song has a female on the chorus. Hush is an okay song.

Mr. Joshay is on Where's That Nigga. Texas Boys features both Big Mello and SPM. A great Texas Rap combination! (This song was done before SPM got locked up.) The seventh track is a remix of Danga off of Who Got Yo Back. This one is called Danger. Homey is a dramatic song. It is death themed. The title says it all on Just Sex, which also features Devin The Dude. The track Diamonds features Billy Cook. I love the loud distorted rock guitar on Scared! There Them Niggas Go Again features Mr. Joshay. So does Killing Me Softly.

Livin'-N-Sin is about the we livin' in was built through many sins. So who are you to be judging other people for their sins? Sin is only human nature, playa. It has that action crime detective theme music sound to it. It's fast paced guitars, the bongos match up with the beat, and there's a mello organ in the background. Sin Sermon explains the evolution of Black music.

I rate this album, Livin'-N-Sin, 5/5*****!

Lift Me Higher is a religious song. Time 2 Do Sumthin is a song about sex. the thirteenth track is a remix of Bounce'n N Floss'n. On the sixteenth track, Lil Sin tells us why his record label SoufField is the illest.
